(I have so many but-) Favorite moment has gotta be the one that started it all: the end of chapter 1 one when they both are just reaching out to eachother 🥺
The way Din’s initial reaction was to just... reach out to the baby? Like what the fr*ck that is so soft? I’m gonna scream
izukel headcanon for the day bc i’ve been sobbing over this for the past century and i need something to take my mind off the WIP real quick.
we always study/do hw together, and this day isn’t unlike the rest. we’re sitting across from each other per usual, books and papers splayed out in between us. izuku’s focused (as always), one hand busy writing and the other idle by his textbook.
since i, Procrastinator Supreme™, would rather do anything other than my math assignment, i grab my pen and take his idle hand and just... doodle on his hand. flowers blooming from the nicks and scars (as much as i would’ve loved to draw on the scars of his right hand, he needs it to write), constellations connecting the freckles dotting his skin, and the occasional "hello” or “i love you” written in flowing cursive. he doesn’t notice it until he goes to wash his hands before dinner and is sad to wash the art off. next time, he’ll just let me mindlessly doodle on his skin whenever we have a moment together.
later, he’ll ask me to redraw the wreath i had doodled around his ring finger as many times as i can, until he can get a pair of promise rings to fill the space.
When we see the baby, our body… reacts. Chemicals start flowing. Want to be near our spawn. Protect it. Hold it.
Eddie nodded, wrapping an arm around himself and closing his eyes so he could focus on their connection. He felt the same way.
Learned that feeling from you, Eddie.
Eddie sucked in a breath, suddenly feeling a little overwhelmed. His other encircled him, squeezing gently from the outside, but Eddie could feel his love's presence inside as well, warming the blood in his veins, making his stomach flutter and his heart feel as if it might burst.
Sometimes it felt like they were made for each other somehow. Like Eddie had to be born with so much emptiness in him to fill, so that his other would have enough room. Not just physically, but in other ways. In his life. In his heart. With his other, all of those empty gaps didn't hurt anymore. They didn't feel like missing pieces or hollow pits. They felt like room for something else to fit into. They felt like spaces where they could interlock. Two souls inside one body.
Together, they made something better than the two of them ever could by themselves.
Are you okay, Eddie? his beloved asked again, and Eddie realized that he was clutching his own chest tightly.
"I'm fine, my love."
He could feel it touching his body in tentative little wisps of black, and an equally light touch pushing at his mind, trying to seek answers.
Then why do we hurt?
"Because sometimes… sometimes I feel for you so strongly, I don't think my heart can keep it all inside," Eddie tried to explain. "It just pours out of me."
Too much love, Eddie? it wondered, circling around his waist, his chest, his wrists and neck, laying its own version of kisses across his skin.
"I think so. Yes."
Then… I'll take some of it from you, Eddie, his other decided. Then it'll be ours. Together, it wouldn't be too much. Together, we could hold it all in.
