Then, finally, Horatio said, “I just feel like it’s weird because I already have a dad. If he is actually my birth dad...well, that doesn’t make him my dad, but it kind of does. Like...wouldn’t it be weird for you if I had another dad?” “I mean, it’d be a bit unusual,” Leon said mostly to the cheese stretching from his food to his fork. Truth be told, he didn’t love the idea of this random guy getting a free pass into his family, which he wasn’t sure that he could stop if Horatio got attached to him. But it wasn’t like Leon would be replaced, and it wasn’t his call anyhow. “But I’ve always known you had another dad, one way or another. Now, if you found a third one, I’d be a bit worried.” “People can be gay,” Celia said as a joke, but also with that tone that meant she was annoyed and just had to be critical about it. “An excellent point,” Leon said with a touch of countersarcasm. “But let me know if you end up with an unusual number of dads somehow. We might have to intervene.”

The festival was a beautiful way to meet the more famous individuals of Astoria. He had been charming his way around the VIP area, getting all the right reactions. A businessman. Some laughed at him, wearing a three piece suit and expensive shoes. He simply agreed with their laughs. It drew eyes, he ensured he was the center of at least one type of stage. People liked asking him why he was wearing a suit, curiosity gave him the in on a conversation. It was a reason he listed on occasion, when he felt giddy enough. 

Stepping outside of the area however, he was simply regarded as someone who didn’t belong. Making his way to a falafel food truck, Maxi ignored how his shoes collected dust, mud, and trash, simply keeping his eye on the price. He passed a young man barely dressed, noting his food. “Is it any good?” He asked.

Zakary wasn’t sure how he had ended up at the party, he knew some people there, but most were strangers. He had gotten himself something to drink that didn’t have alcohol - meaning tap water - and felt a little odd for standing near the pool with long pants and a t-shirt on. But he was far too conscious of the scars covering his body to even think about jumping in. Perhaps with clothes on, but since nobody else was doing that. 

He took a deep breath and moved from his perch, looking for familiar faces. He spotted Leon on his own too, and moved through the crowd to get to him, worried someone else would end up talking to him or he would disappear. But luckily he was quick enough. “Hey, Leon,” he said, smiling as he appeared in front of the other. “Fancy seeing you here.”
