Prop finished up putting on the dishwasher and cleaning away the left-overs in the fridge from dinner. It had once been odd to eat and live where they worked, bu it had become a natural cycle for everyone. They would be around if someone needed help, make their own hours, fix and offer assistance regardless of what time it was, and take some work off of the hands of others simply because they only had to take the stairs to fall into bed. Going through the short motions of washing their hands and drying them on the washcloth near the door, Prop noted a figure crossing the hallway. They put the washcloth back and exited the kitchen, sending a jolt through the network of cables to turn off the lights there without having to reach for the switch.
They only needed a few quick steps to reach Silver, who had been staying at Hestia’s House for the past... two years? Though they felt like their friendship, or whatever relationship they had, was mostly because of Elena, it was hard not to grow familiar with other people who stayed around for a longer period of time. While Prop was by now part of the furniture, Silver was becoming part of the small family.
“Hey,” they said. Prop wasn’t great with friends, they could be too blunt, too tactless, too inconsistent, while at the same time carefree and managing to care too little about the consequences. But most of all, Prop got scared when people came too close, afraid they would leave them. They still held hope though, with every person they met they didn’t immediately think about what could happen. Silver wasn’t too close yet to get uncomfortable, and yet also not close enough. “Did you enjoy dinner?”
