Beau didn’t like change. To say the Haus was a bit of a change from his normal daily life was an understatement. He had read all the info he could find on the place before he came and then scoured the paperwork they had given him upon his arrival, and yet he still felt as if he was floundering trying to find his stride. He had thought it would be easier to talk to people when he was paying them to be agreeable...but it turned out that money didn’t buy social graces and his discomfort persisted. Still, he was determined to make the most of his stay. Perhaps he should just skip the talking altogether and get to the good part instead.
He had decided to take his sketchbook to the pool - dressed in a slightly rumpled button down and slacks, hoping that it would prove to be a good spot for some quick figure studies. It didn’t make sense to him to swim outside so late in the winter, but the view was nice enough he figured carnal desire was strong enough to overpower that in lieu of admiring mostly naked men. One of the people he’d been drawing, a man who had been sitting on the edge of the pool with his feet in the water, just so happened to glance up in his direction just in time to meet his gaze, holding it in a way that put a pause on his drawing.
Raising an eyebrow in return, his stoic expression shifting slightly to accommodate the questioning look, he glanced back down at his sketchbook long enough to capture the man’s eyes. He was never able to get the emotion right, his drawing failing to capture any of the life inside his subject. Shifting shifting back to the preliminary sketch, he idly blocked in a few of the people in the surrounding area, their bodies a chaotic mess of lines as he tried to capture them in motion. Even still, his eyes returned to that man, though he couldn’t put a finger on why.
