Maren had taken a trip to muggle London, craving the calm that the wizarding world wasn’t offering her. Things at home were too stressful. She felt the weight of everyone’s guilt and fear. There wasn’t anything to do... yet. Maren knew that the real work was on the horizon. She’d stopped at her favorite ice cream spot. It wasn’t too far from the train station and some years before they left for Hogwarts they’d stop here and get a scoop. 

She’d gotten two scoops. One of strawberry and the other of Birthday Cake, a favorite since childhood. She took the cone and walked down the street. Concentrated on the cone she stopped abruptly, to stop herself from walking into a man.

“Oh,” She gasped as she tilted her cone to the side. The top scoop, Strawberry, slid off the cone and towards the ground. Quickly she reached, catching the ice cream scoop in her hand. 

Now, cone in one hand and scoop in the other she looked up at the man. “Sorry, that was my bad.” The scoop melted in her hand, droplets running down her arm.
