Hades was born to Cronus and Rhea. Though he was quickly devoured by his father as a Prophecy said that he would be Overthrown by one of his sons.
His brother Zeus was the only one to survivor due to Rhea making sure that he was out of his father's eyes. When Zeus was old enough he rescued his siblings and with the help of them and some other beings they managed to over through the Titans.
The world was split between the three brothers. Hades was given the Underworld, something he was not pleased with but had no choice to take up the mantle of King of the Underworld.
The God barely ever left his abode, not caring for the world above. He made sure that the dead stayed put, not leaving his realm and while he wasn't the kindest to the souls that lived in his realm. He had one love that saw a different side of him.
Hades kidnapped Persephone after falling in love with her. Of course, their relationship did not start off the best and when Hermes came to deliver the message of Demeter destruction, he let her go, knowing he would never be a good husband to her.
Though he still wanted to see her so he gave her pomegranate seeds, which she ate, binding her to the Underworld. It was agreed between everyone that she would spend a third of the year with Hades which made the world above fall into winter.
