He was warm—impeccably so. And Vega was still getting used to being this close to someone who wasn’t Nick or Milo but somehow, it being Chris with his arms looped around her made it that much easier to overcome that discomfort. More than that, however, his warmth made it easier to ignore the squeezing of beating heart; a sensation she seemed to suffer more and more when it came time to leave him. She enjoyed the larger man’s company, a lot more than she thought she ever would. And with each sinking of the sun beneath the horizon, the star found herself reluctant, prayers for extra hours often crossing her mind though she knew them useless. But where wishes failed, his hugs prevailed; the embraces were both a much-needed extension of their time together and a promise of more to come, all in one simple action. Perhaps this was why, as he began to pull away and prepared to say goodbye, emotion rushed forth—heady, fast—to claim the little star. She wanted to speak, a single word coming to mind as she thought of it—no! But no matter what had changed in how she felt for him, she was still Vega; words were not her forte. So instead the celestial being pressed up onto tipped toes, pressing gentle kiss to the curve of his jawline. She didn’t quite know what she meant to say in that single action nor what she meant to trigger from his end. But what she was certain of was a desire for the night to go on a bit longer, even if that meant just five more minutes.
