 “I'm curious,” started Lucy, putting the last chess pieces back into the box, “how are you planning to make me hike now that we're in France? I mean, do you even KNOW any places here? Do you have your eyes on something. I'm all ears, mon amie.” Truthfully, she missed hanging out with Maia enough to subject herself to another hike. But maybe she could convince her to go on a road trip while they were abroad? Lucielle certainly knew of some places that were WORTH a visit and could be reached with a car.

 Lucielle had PURPOSEFULLY hunted Maia down in her room, in desperate need of their quiet one-on-ones. “People suck, existing is garbage and I need to clear my head,” she announced before the brunette could say or, God forbid, ask her anything. She lifted the chessboard she was holding close to her chest. “Are you free NOW? Can we play?” After all, chess was one of the surest ways she could put her mind together and calm herself down and Maia was always the best partner.

Lucy: You're late.

[5 minutes later]

Lucy: You're even later now.

Lucy: People are looking at me funny. I don't want them to plotting how to steal your car.

Lucy: Maia, if you don't come in the next minute, I'm afraid I will have to hurt it. With my keys.

 Lucielle had to do some DIGGING and research until she found Maia. Pushing her sunglasses up so they acted as a diadem, she moved towards the girl’s table. At the same time, a boy that was probably a freshman headed towards her too, an ugly smile on his face. And since her protective instincts were forever turned ON after the pep rally, Lucy just glared at the boy. “Scram,” she ordered coldly and he was off. Focusing her attention back on her friend, the blonde dropped on the free chair next to her. “So, my dearest.” She gave Maia a bright grin and fluttered her lashes before slapping a leaflet she’d gotten from the lobby on the table. “Time to do some FAMILY activities. Just the two of us. I know, I know, you’re honored to be with your absolute favorite, no need to say it. Just pick something!”

 “It’s been a while,” Lucy noted when Maia appeared at last, her lips QUIRKING UP at the sight of the other girl. She had a mug of tea on the table in front of her, still steaming and a safe distance away from her grandpa’s old chessboard. The thing was folded, sitting proudly and Lucielle hoped that they would get to play some even if she hadn’t really mentioned that when she called her friend. Excitment BUBBLED in her and she leaned forward in her seat. “Sit down. Let your legs rest. Join me. Maybe try to do my Fashion Design homework.” Her lips parted, a flash of her teeth. “Kidding, kidding. I’ll fight that on my own.”

 This task honestly confused Lucy. It wasn’t like she usually shared any of her  ‘RENDEZVOUS’ with Maia, of all people, so she couldn’t see why this one in particuar was so important. But whatever, she was sure it would be no trouble. And there she stood, in front of her friend’s door with no prior announcement because that was just how SHE ROLLED, her knuckles beating against the door twice. “Maia,” Lucielle drawled the name in a sing-song voice, a small smile appearing on her face. “It’s room service!”
