[AERITH] ❛ how do you say goodbye to someone who was never there? ❜ [SEPHIROTH]
A softer world... || accepting
Sun rays, unfiltered, unbroken, play across soft auburn locks and the pastel petals in delicate hands, telling tales of time and beauty beyond your reach. A lifetime ago you might have believed that this holy place should burn to the touch, like a warning to the blood on your hands, and yet, she changed that. You never quite understood her, a part of you believed you never truly will. Here, beneath collapsing walls and aching beams, in the place where wealth abandoned its people and your name was an omen of ill will, she was the beacon that healed every heart she touched. Perhaps for a man of fractured pieces, her presence didn’t need an explanation.
The more you reached beyond your white walls and military march, you realised the world did not turn in the palm of another man’s hand. ShinRa’s name was branded on her back, it did not touch these walls. For these moments you spent, a ghost among the rubble, you were no one, and nothing. And never before have you felt so free.
Gilded thoughts stowed away among the stems of flowers, so often you walked the world with your eyes tuned to war, that you forgot how pain was a universal feeling, not a prison for you alone. Words, soft like her wrists and the slope of her shoulders, nearly passed you by unanswered- pleas of an unfulfilled heart danced in the air around you. Her question was... perplexing, but not a thought you hadn’t had before in your own way.
A woman always out of reach, a name you cannot hold, a place in family photos where she should be. Tattered lab coats, empty bottles, an escape and the ever growing space between blood....
For who did she mourn? What parts of her were missing?
“ You don’t. Life goes on, and you make something of it without them. ”
