corinna gracefully and carefully formed the cookie dough in front of her into tiny little spheres as she hummed one of her favorite songs. her voice filled the empty air around her, but it was something she was used to. her husband was always off at work in the navy and her son has already moved out to start a life of his own. it was heartbreaking for sure, but there was simply nothing she could do about it. she couldn’t selfishly hold them back from doing what they were so passionate about. no, but there were two boys that still fueled her motherly heart that lived very close to her. it was the reason she woke up and started baking again-- for matthew. the brunette pressed the spheres, somewhat firmly, into a baking sheet and into the oven they went. 

the woman reached for her tea, which had gone cold by now. however, it didn’t bother her. after years of looking after little ones, it was just something that you lived with. a bittersweet reminder of all the hard work paying off. corinna grasped her delicate tea cup as she looked out of her kitchen window and into her garden. spring time was still a ways away and most of the flowers she had were dormant at this time. for her, it was a reminder that you could fall and come back up, but when you did you could come back ten times stronger. 

the sound of her doorbell echoing off the walls of her home suddenly pulled her from her thoughts and tore her attention away from her garden. slowly, a smile formed across her face as she gracefully made her way to the front door. pulling back the door, she found a familiar face that made her light up inside. “baby boy-- c’mer, oh my goodness, i’m so glad you came,” she reacted excitedly to see her nephew before her.

¡Heme aquí una semana más! ¿No me esperabas, verdad? Jaja, sí, ya sé que sí, pero déjame ser feliz ¿ok? Ha sido una semana un taaaanto movida para mí, así que temo que esta carta va a ser un asco total, pero tú sabrás perdonarme, yo lo sé, porque eres el ser más increíble de todo el planeta. Y no, no exagero ni te estoy comprando para que me perdones. Aunque no me perdonases seguiría pensando que eres genial. Así, como lo oyes, sin anestesia te lo digo.

No me gustan los misterios ¿sabes? Tampoco las sorpresas, ni tener dudas, ni expectaciones, ni… intrigas. De hecho, soy mala para eso. Ya estoy interesada en conocer el misterio que escondes y no sé cómo hacer para que me lo cuentes. Te estoy odiando muy fuerte en este momento, pequeño Sigma, quiero que lo sepas.

Voy a pasar a hacerte nuevas preguntas, aunque estas van a ser bastante más tontas que las anteriores. Espero que aun así sean difíciles de responder. Quiero tenerte pensando en mí un rato más.

Si tuvieras la asombrosa oportunidad de ir a cenar con un personaje (ya sea de película, libro, ficticio, famoso…) ¿cuál sería y por qué?

¿Serías capaz de perdonar una infidelidad si sabes que esa persona realmente te ama?

¿De qué forma equivocada te juzga la gente que todavía no te conoce?

Hey, Matty:

Aquí estoy yo, una semana más. Ya sabía yo que ibas a descubrirme nada más leer las frases que componían la primera carta, pero ¿qué puedes hacer cuando tu personalidad se niega a desaparecer o fingir ser otra? Es horrible; yo quería que este proyecto fuera entretenido para ambos, que vivieras con la duda y todas esas tonterías. No podrá ser, espero que eso no te decepcione. Una pregunta curiosa… ¿cómo es posible que no tengas un mísero lápiz? En serio, bebé, eres raro. Yo tengo muchos, te regalaré uno cuando te vea.

Bueno, no creo que sea capaz de escribir mil cartas a la semana cuando apenas puedo con una, pero algo es algo ¿no? O eso dicen. Espero que te gusten, de todos modos, y que estés feliz de recibir algo de mi parte, aunque sea una tontería como esta. Porque, honestamente, te estoy rellenando las líneas con palabrerío inconexo porque no tengo mucha idea de qué decirte y tu carta fue tan larga que no quiero quedar ridícula por responder corto.

He ido descubriendo a lo largo de los días que tú y yo somos algo así como almas gemelas. No en el sentido ñoño de la palabra si no… tú sabes, todo lo tenemos en común y cada vez que conozco algo de ti, ese algo se convierte en algo que también es mío… ¿me explico? No sé, creo que todo lo que yo hago tú lo has hecho antes o viceversa, y eso es lo que logró que encajáramos desde el primer minuto.

Voy a dejarte unas pocas preguntas porque quiero conocerte más a fondo; así que aquí van.

¿Te has enamorado en alguna ocasión? ¿Has tenido novia o tan solo cosas esporádicas que no duran?

¿Cuál es tu comida favorita? Quiero aprender a cocinar, tal vez pueda comenzar con algo que te guste y así me das tu punto de vista.

Que típico ¿no? Odio esos empieces tan sumamente aburridos, los típicos que te ponen en las cartas certificadas del banco o de hacienda. Es un empiece falso, si me permites decirlo, porque seguro que cuando ellos lo escriben no están pensando en que te quieren, en que en efecto eres un ser querido. Así que voy a empezar de nuevo.

Hey, Matt:

¿Mejor? Nah, no sé cómo queda mejor, así que lo dejamos así y que sea lo que quieras que sea. Antes de comenzar a centrarme en la carta, quiero avisarte de que no soy buena con las palabras y de que seguramente me descubras a las dos líneas: porque soy incapaz de esconder mi personalidad y fingir que soy otra con la esperanza de que no me descubran en mi patético intento de admiradora secreta. Así que… no sé, si ves que descubres quién soy ¿podrías fingir que no sucede? Así todos seríamos felices y yo creería que soy de verdad anónima.

Ahora sí, quiero empezar a decirte que me has llamado la atención de un modo terriblemente bueno. Debo admitir que, aunque ya te había visto con anterioridad, nunca me habías llamado la atención hasta el momento exacto en que compartimos un rato juntos. Fue cuando me di cuenta de que realmente tienes mucho que aportar, mucho que dar, y me alegro de haberme dado la oportunidad de conocerte porque de verdad ha merecido la pena. Y, aunque suene precipitado conociéndote tan poco, debo admitir que me gustas. Me gusta tu forma de ser y tu forma de pensar, y que no te cortes ante nada ni nadie.

Me gustaría seguir conociéndote mediante este proyecto si me lo permites, así que… ¿qué tal si me respondes dándome el permiso de mandarte más cartas? Sería genial.
