Blood and War (Pascal & Adrian)
Pascal didn’t get angry anymore. He used to let it consume him, an untameable rage that more often than not got him into unimaginable amounts of trouble. It’d take over his mind and control his body, bruised and bloody knuckles hitting flesh and bone over and over until someone managed to drag him away. He’d craved it as well. For years, his anger had been the only real thing beside his sister. It’d been something to hold onto, something so alive, it had reminded him of who he was.
But then Paige had gotten hurt, and that same roaring anger had become too dangerous to hold onto. He’d been forced to let go of it, to let it simmer and eventually cool off entirely.
Until Fairfield.
Standing as still as a statue against the wall, Pascal kept his gaze fixed on the blond haired boy across the room. Adrian Cipriani. The boy who’d hurt his sister. The only person to cause Paige almost as much pain as their parents had, and one of the students Pascal would stop at nothing to destroy. He’d seen them earlier that day, talking in the corridor. Adrian had been standing too close to Paige, crowding her back against the locker. His snarky words had carried down the corridor and they’d made Pascal’s blood boil. He’d wanted nothing more, then, to rush forwards and slam Adrian’s head against the locker over and over, to hit and kick until there was nothing left.
Pascal hadn’t had such violent thoughts in years, always trying to protect Paige from the person he’d once been. But everything about Adrian made him want to scream and break the promise he’d made her. The smile, the arrogant coolness with which he carried himself, the haughtiness dripping off every word whenever he spoke. Subconsciously, his hands curled into fists.
It’d be so easy. But there was little point in attacking there and then, in front of Adrian’s friends and a crowded room full of people in love with him. He’d wait patiently, lurking in the shadows where he worked best, setting up a deadly trap for Adrian to walk straight into.
