shaken // antonin & anastazie
Anastazie was packing away the last of her things to take back to school at the end of break. Mostly that meant finding a way to fit all of the books she had gotten as presents that she definitely wanted to read over the next semester. Luckily, she had a magically expanded bag which certainly helped, but it was only so big and choices had to be made. It was a difficult task, weighing the benefits of transmutation theory against arguments of prophecy accuracy, but at least it could distract her.
Even she was surprised at how heavily the events of New Years Eve weighed on her mind. She had heard about, even seen a few things like this in the past, and though she didn’t necessarily like them, she was always able to move on relatively easily. But this time was different. Maybe it was because she had just been talking to a member of the Department of Secrets two minutes before midnight who had started choking right next to her after taking a sip from his glass. Or maybe it’s because of the fallout. Three Wizengamot members dead. Three young members, just like she planned to be. It wasn’t the most comforting thought.
She was putting the rejected books away on the shelf in her personal library when she heard a knock. Turning to see her brother standing in the open doorway, she immediately lit up. It was a stress relief she couldn’t get from just sorting books. “Ant! I didn’t know you were stopping by today,” she said, going over to him for a hug. “Come to say goodbye before I hide myself back in the castle with my studies?”
