Surya had watched, unblinking, as Agatha Moreau died. Again. It suddenly felt impossible to imagine her in her old body, and maybe that would be what she wanted. For everyone’s final memory to be when she was most beautiful. Surya wished she could do that, though she knew she’d have the courage to wrinkle before she’d have the courage to die. 

When she next came across the clone’s young mentor, she actually approached him. “If you need any help sleeping, we keep a lot of chamomile tea and lavender on our floor.”
