Jesse didn’t even bother looking inside of the envelope that contained the name of his date because this wasn’t his thing, the whole random dates with someone you could have potentially met at some point plus the last thing he wanted to do was get too distracted. His eyes moving from his drink to the woman across the room — Amalia. It was his job to make sure nothing happened to her and that was all that mattered tonight. Nothing and no one else could be trusted or distracting to him. He brought the drink up to his lips, tilting his head back to drink back the contents that rested in the glass.
He heard a small clear of the throat, turning his head to see none other than Laila. Nothing left him for a minute. All he did was reach out to pick up the envelope, his eyes moving from her as he opened it. He pulled out the card with her name on it, shaking his head for a few seconds as an amused grin came along his features. He tossed the card and the envelope onto the bar, his head turned to look over at her. “This date isn’t happenin’ so don’t waste your time, okay?”
