He shouldn’t be here. Every instinct was telling him this was a bad idea but he needed to know if she was alright. Between the chaos he had pulled Alicia from and his brother in town it was risky to be anywhere near someone he cared for but yet again here he was. Hopefully she didn’t shoot him on sight...
When the front door clicked and the handle turned, he stood up from the couch where he had been sitting for a couple hours, waiting for her to finish her shift for the day. “Don’t shoot.” he said immediately, raising his hands and stepping into the light of the lamp so she could better see it was a friendly face. Or at least, a face that used to be a friend.
“Look I know I’m the last person you want to see but....” he paused as his gaze swept over her in concern for her well being, doing his own assessment to see if she was physically hurt. “I heard what happened and I needed to see for myself that you were alright. That’s all.”
