Polly wasn’t sure how they got here. That wasn’t to say they weren’t grateful. Unlike most, a night here meant a night of relative comfort for them, the pitiful amounts of money they had able to be saved for another day when they were in more desperate need. It wasn’t bad, they thought, even if it was a little crowded. They had enough to afford a drink, one they would nurse for the night if they had to, and, cup in hand, they searched for a place to sit, until their eyes fell upon Winnie Bao. They didn’t know much about her - but they knew who she was, and that, alone, was enough to impress. Perhaps they was easily dazzled, but the other had left an impression on them. They didn’t hesitate, ducking to their table, placing the drink down carefully so as not to spill anything over the rim, and sliding into the seat.
“I bet you didn’t expect to be stuck here all night,” they spoke gently, despite the natural hoarse cadence of her voice. “Will there be anybody waiting for you?”
