Number 24 on my #top25games that I’ve discovered over the last year... Cacao from @philwalkerharding and @abacusspiele. 🍫🌳🍃 It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Phil Walker-Harding’s games. He has a knack for taking a mechanic and turning it into something entirely new, and it’s because I’m such a fan that I decided another of his games needed to be in my collection this year. In fact, this is one of three of his games that has made my top 25! 🌳🍫🍃 So why does Cacao deserve the number 24 slot? In Cacao you are laying tiles (one of my favourite game mechanics) and performing actions based on the placement. The Meeple icons on each side of the tiles represent the number of actions you can perform, relative to the tile they are adjacent to. You can perform actions such as harvesting cacao seeds, mining for gold or having the dominating number of Meeples adjacent to temples for end game scoring. 🌳🍃🍫 Cacao is another one of those games that is simple enough to introduce to new gamers, whilst having a familiarity (perhaps most obviously with Carcassonne) and depth enough to keep seasoned gamers entertained. I’ve enjoyed every play of it, so it has definitely earnt a place in my top 25 games that I’ve discovered over the last year! 🌳🍫🍃 #cacao #cacaoboardgame #philwalkerharding #abacusspiele #boardgame #boardgames #boardgamegeek #boardgamesofinstagram #boardgameaddict #gamer #gaming #games #tabletop #tabletopgames #hobby #gamingaddict #bgg #tilelayinggames #tilelaying https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq4YRGWBWpM/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1hkbtaz93daw6
