A glass of white wine sat idly on the table next to empty plates and Thalra’s open purse, in which she was currently digging in, her mouth twisted into a thin frown as she pulled out her third pair of glasses. She tried this pair on, opening up a compact mirror to examine the way they changed her face shape. She wanted to look professional, but not too analytical to a prospective business partner. After a moment of dissatisfied pruning, she sighed, and tossed the glasses onto the table, pouting. What did it matter anyway? Whoever she met would just be handling whatever Thalra thought was too boring, it’s not like she actually had to impress anyone.
She took a sip of her wine, reaching out with her other hand to toy with the edges of the glasses, wiping the lenses on the table cloth to get rid of any invisible smudges. Then, a shadow, and Thalra’s eyes cast up to see the figure that had stopped at her table. Quickly and instinctively, she plastered a smile on her face and stood up. “Hello there,” she offered her hand, waiting for him to shake it. “Cade, right? Or do you prefer Mr. Dawson?”
