Coffeeshop Obsession
Coffee shops; I don’t know how I’ve come to love them overnight. My boyfriend and I used to while away our time at coffeeshops while he was still in Manila, and after he left for Australia it has turned into something I’ve come to love doing on my own as well. There’s nothing more I’d want to do these days than to find myself the comfiest chair in a charming cafe, sit and stare at people, maybe do a little eavesdropping, and immerse myself in a paperback and something hot/iced. Allow myself some idle time. Assume my spot facing the cafe windows and watch the sun fizzle out into dazzling tones of gold. Rid my mind of to-do lists and daily troubles. Treat myself to a decadent waffle stack or a grilled cheese sandwich, then fuss over whether or not my spending on such trifling cups of coffee and snackage is rational. Then exit said cafe feeling resolute and serene. This new habit is going to be a bit costly.
Here are a few of my reco's of nice and impeccably cozy coffee shops in Manila for catching up with a friend, enjoying a book, or killing time: Local Edition Coffee and Tea along Perea Street Commune PH near Paseo de Roxas and Makati Ave. Yardstick Coffee near my workplace in Makati Toby's Estate, also within the Makati CBD Restock PH is a little-known art gallery along Guijo Street that also serves coffee and friendly conversation. Tutto Domani is a kitschy little cafe just outside Greenbelt which also offers free use of board games and a full menu of meals and snacks.
