Cafe NELA show w/ A Global Threat, The Fiends & Rats in the Wall. May 25th 2017

In the spirit of Punk Rock Bowling and so many great shows in these coming months in Los Angeles (don’t think I’ll be able to make all of them or even half this year) here’s a photoset from a roll of Ilford HP5 BW film I shot at one of the better shows I went to last year at Cafe NELA in Cypress Park, LA.

First time shooting a bar show or any show for that matter on film, so my set up for the all the photo nerds reading this were was simple- Film speed set at 1600 in camera, fastest lens I have (f/1.8) the camera flash on my Canon Rebel G, fingers crossed and away I went!!

These are my favorites so enjoy the set and if you don’t, oh well!

PS: Cafe NELA’s bathroom wall has plenty of material for you to read while you piss!

Penultimate Sunday at Cafe NELA

So for I don’t know how many hours all these very creative types—some musicians, a writer, a couple artists, maybe some others—had settled in around a beat up table in an assortment of abandoned chairs at the very bottom of the Cafe NELA patio. Either gravity or our careers had left us there because you couldn’t get any lower than that table. We sat there drinking and smoking and laughing way too…
