well i just recently found the info for this blog again and i’m re-watching fury road so in honor of maybe restarting this blog: here are some interesting things i’ve noticed on this rewatch. they’ve probably been noticed by other people before.
“... if you can’t stand up, you can’t do war!” is possibly one of my favorite lines because of how modern it is. the linguistics pattern in it is highly familiar as it’s internet culture/chatspeak. it’s nice to see how something was passed down into the warboy’s speaking patterns because the demographics who understand and use internet culture linguistics patterns ( aka teens to early thirties ) would have been the ones to survive long enough to pass speaking patterns down.
the buzzard line “what’s this war rig doing on our patch?” it’s either Russian speech patterns or it implies that there are multiple war rigs or there have been multiple iterations of war rigs? someone who speaks Russian will probably shoot me down on this
i still can’t tell if morsov is the one swinging from the crane or the one who had been saved from the back of the motorbike. idk, bad eyesight

that one line that ace screams that people have thought was ‘i’ve got it’ ( which i understand has caused some confusion ) but i think it’s ‘hydraulics’ because the war boys after he shouts that got after the arm on the excavator?
nux watching the car blow up in the sandstorm with such fascination is one part getting rev’d up for his own death and one part knowing he is witnessing them even if he doesn’t say it because there was no one else to witness the rest of the crew dying
even if max could have removed nux’s wrist thingy he would have had to haul around the door which is a hilarious image in my mind
people laugh at how nux seemed like a whimp for falling over after a single punch but have you ever been hit in the diaphragm which is where i think max punched him? it fucking HURTS. also nux had been sick enough that he had to have blood transfusions? so he would have been weak enough that a single punch could lay him out flat.
small moment but when furi says ‘when i yell fool you start the war rig’ and max looks like ‘really?’ at the name i laugh because c’mon max you said it doesn’t really matter. furi is gonna pick a horrible name because you just tried to steal her rig
once again: family roadtrip feels
“i’ll pike her in the spine” is an strange and very telling use of the word because a pike was at it’s shortest 10 feet long? so pikes have evidently become something else, a hand held weapon like a shank.
cheedo putting on lipstick before she tries to run makes me think that makeup was part of the daily routine of the wives back in the citadel?
