Calgary Arts Development Update: Grant Program and Flood Rebuilding Fund Grants
Applications Open: Artist Opportunity Grant Program Calgary Arts Development is pleased to announce that applications for the Artist Opportunity Grant Program are now open.
The Artist Opportunity Grant Program is being piloted in 2013 and 2014 to invest in professional development opportunities for individual professional artists. With no set deadlines for applications, the program will allow artists to take advantage of short-term opportunities that will develop their careers. An opportunity must be a unique experience that clearly contributes to meaningful professional growth and development for the applicant. It may be one of many things – an invitation to exhibit at a prestigious gallery, to study with a mentor or renowned teacher or to perform at a festival out of town, for example. An opportunity might follow from a selection jury or a competitive process. Ultimately, an opportunity can only be defined in the context of each artist’s career.

The Calgary Foundation – Flood Rebuilding Fund Grants Following the devastating Southern Alberta Floods of June 2013, The Calgary Foundation established the Flood Rebuilding Fund, which supports qualified donees in long-term rebuilding and recovery efforts.
Flood Rebuilding Fund Grants support qualified donees in all parts of the charitable sector that serve Calgary and area flood-affected regions. To determine whether your organization is a qualified donee, visit the Canada Revenue Agency’s website.
Recognizing that charitable organizations need time to develop their recovery strategies, The Calgary Foundation has established two application intakes.
Application Deadlines: October 25, 2013 or January 31, 2014 at 4:00pm.
There are two grant programs available:
1. Increased demand program – supports the work of qualified donees that are experiencing or are likely to experience increased demand for their existing services as a result of the flood.
2. New initiatives program – supports new initiatives that restore community spirit, rebuild community gathering places and enhance community resilience.
