It had weighed on Calla's mind a lot since Yin had gotten her in contact with Robert. If he hadn't known about her, how many others were out there? It had been an idea she had floated by Yin, trying to get an idea of how right she might be and he hadn't seemed to think she was wrong. Although he also hadn't exactly encouraged her to go seeking potential siblings either.

Still, Calla was curious, too curious for her own good, really, and she couldn't help but let out a low whistle when she reached her apparent destination.

"Well, this is certainly a way sketchier-looking place than I was expecting. Do you ever feel like the weird drug dealer in one of those old after-school specials warning about the dangers of drugs?"

"So, I have to ask, because it's been bothering me for almost as long as I've known you, but are you and my dad like a couple or exes or some shit? Because I can't tell one way or another."

It was rare for Calla to stumble across anyone she had met before, but the prickling on the back of her neck and the way the magic whispered to her, the way the ley lines recoiled at his presence, was all too familiar, even before she caught sight of his face.

“I’ve...met you before,” she mumbled, wondering why their paths would cross in her search for her father. She knew he wasn’t who she was looking for, but there had to be a reason the lines would have brought her here.

“If a plant’s not growin’ the way it should, the soil’s probably depleted of nutrients or contaminated with something. Same with all living things; you want them to grow, you feed 'em. You want them to die, you starve or poison them.”

“The ground’s asleep,” she countered quietly, sitting in the middle of the barren area. There had been flowers here, once, ones that bloomed in brilliant color, but the energy had gone unused for too long, gone dormant.

There wasn’t much power in the land here and Calla wasn’t sure if she was relieved or anxious. It had been a long while since she had gotten away from the lines. It was kind of weird to be home again. 

“Hey, do you have the time?”

“No one was meant to see that,” she murmured, looking a touch embarrassed. It wasn’t common for her to do any sort of spell work in the open, but there was something about the area that made it difficult not to. Truth be told, she hadn’t even touched the surface of the way the energy was coursing through her. It was making her palms itch.
