Something I've been really loving is the amount of mouse games ive been finding lately - and by that I mean two that are currently demos and will be coming out in November but I'll always be excited if theres more. Important context to this ramble: hi, hello, ive absolutely adored Mouse Guard since I was a child and for a long while it was an active obsession of mine.
AND NOW I GET TWO MOUSE GAMES !! Thank you dearly, creators of these games, your target audience is me.
First, there's Winter Burrow, where you play as a city mouse returning to their run-down family burrow in the wilderness after their parents died. Its winter so you cant stay outside too long because there's a warmth meter that goes down whenever you're outside, theres health, hunger, and stamina/breath meters to manage too while gathering materials to patch up the place and make clothes that'll make it easier to travel, etc. It's a very fun time. Its movement and stuff is like Don't Starve, which I really like - idk what the technical term for that camera setup and movement is but its very cool.
PLUS !! I immediately got hit with a HUGE burst of nostalgia opening it up and seeing the story slides because the art style and especially that bit of art where the parents were entering the city and there were mice everywhere reminded me of Mouse Guard and I love that about it.
Then there's Whiskerwood - where you're building a mouse colony and having to deal with sending supplies back to the cat ruler for taxes and pirates that'll also sometimes show up. I love seeing the mice running around and doing various things :]]
