The camera has 32x optical zoom and 57x advanced zoom - I tested out the zoom and it was still able to focus almost perfectly on trees etc on full zoom.

The best part of this camcorder is that it comes with touch screen controls! so focusing on subjects is a lot easier compared to my old camera. I'm excited to try this new camcorder out properly on my upcoming holiday next month!
