My Thoughts On Camp Camp Generation Swaps
I AM NOT HATING ON THE CONCEPT, I ACTUALLY ADORE IT. I JUST HAVE SOME POINTS I THINK PEOPLE WOULDN’T MIND THINKING OVER.
I have two major points I want to hit on: Max’s character development and David’s childhood.
One is the fact Max might not have recuperated enough after being neglected to actually counsel kids properly. Sure, he came to camp when he was a kid, but who’s to say he met Neil and Nikki until after he’d started counseling at the camp? That would’ve only given Max a couple years to be with them- certainly not enough time to put him in a mental position approved for dealing with a camp full of kiddos. Now, this is barring the condition that Max met them within the past couple of years. Of course, if he met them as kids, then this wouldn’t be the case because he had positive figures for a majority of his life.
The other thing is David. Just... David. As we’ve seen in the show, David was the troublemaker. But he wasn’t necessarily a parallel to Max- Max at least had Nikki and Neil as friends. The only person David even remotely had a relationship with was Jasper, and he still seemed to despise the kid- up until he hypothetically died. To me, David seems to parallel Nurf a lot more than any of the other kids. He was a loner who went out of his way to hurt the other kids with no intent.
Just some other thoughts:
Gwen might actually be the Max parallel. She can make friends, sure, but her parents obviously weren’t supportive later on in her life- who’s to say they were when she was a kid?
While I head canon Jasper to be an innocent child, in the backstory episode he seemed quite egotistical. He centralized quite a bit of his dialogue around the fact that he was the best camper. This could have been biased, as the story was told from David’s perspective, but I’ll take what I can get.
🌱 Getting off the airplane and seeing Max waiting for me in the terminal! I felt safe and happy and I knew good things were gonna happen.
🐍 Had some damn good poutine at the state fair once.
🐍Wisconsin. It’s cold as balls but the rent’s not too bad.
🌱I love it! It’s May and there was snow last week!
🐍That’s really not something to be happy about.
🐍 I'm not crazy into movies, but Baby Driver is pretty solid.
🌱That’s...a lot of blood.
🐍 You’ll learn to appreciate it when you’re older.
