Council responds over vanishing comments

Southwark Council said the 75 comments objecting to plans for new flats next to Canavan’s have vanished due to “technical problems” – and said they should be back up on the site shortly.

Just before Christmas the planning application by 2 Gee Developments Ltd to build 22 flats and a new restaurant next to the Rye Lane pool club had received 76 objections on the council’s website.

But when our reporter checked the application again today all but one had disappeared.

A Southwark spokesman said: “We are currently experiencing technical problems with the planning portal. The problem has been reported to the software provider and when it is fixed all submitted comments should be back on public view.

“In the meantime submitted comments are still taken into consideration but can’t currently be made live on the website.”
