Bakura's head was throbbing when he woke up. Not quite a hangover, but it sure didn't feel good. His neck was sore, his hips and ass were sore. He looked down to find he was wearing a very oversized shirt.

Recollection started to come to him. The club. Mariku's voice in his ear. The backseat of his car. Pleasure. Pain. Fear. He'd genuinely thought the blonde might kill him, might strangle him while smothering him with his body.

He shuddered and reached for his phone to check the time only to see he had a text message. It said that the sender was "Mariku" with a little red heart next to the name. His hand trembling a little, he opened the message to see what it said.

Ryou whipped around towards the voice. His eyes took a moment to refocus, and first, then recognition dawned on the silver-white-haired male's face.

However, once he did, he turned his face away from the former shadow.

" Just the rain" half-truth. The rain could be barely considered rain, nothing more than a simple drizzle. Leaving his hair quite damp but not even close to being trenched.

A shaky breath left the young man's lips.

Ryou tried, in a subtle manner, to scan the area, trying to figure out where he had wandered off to. Spacing out wasn't new to him, but usually, he could at least vaguely tell where he is. This was different.

This day had already started terribly. Nothing had gone the way he wanted to, and then this little...confrontation in the late afternoon didn't help. His fingers and knuckles still hurt, keeping his hand well hidden under his sleeve.

So, spacing out wasn't that surprising; he had hoped a little walk would help. But now he wonders if a warm bath wouldn't have been better.

" Didn't expect to start raining that late, unlucky me" he hummed. Trying to play it off. But his voice wasn't as pleasant as it had been the last time they talked.

It took a moment until the three dots came up again and vanished and came back up.

That dragged on for a minute, before Shizuka seemed to be happy with her reply or resignated in trying to buffer it.

I'm glad you're feeling alright. I'm on my way to the doctor, so I guess... I'm not alright.

I guess, I underestimated what a metallic object can do to a body, when you get thrown into it full force.

In the Dark

Sleep once again danced around Atem but never really engaged. A teasing, often fleeting thing since he had returned to this dimension. Nights were lonely, but so were days. His decision to not inform anyone of his return saw to that.

The silence was not only deafening but painful to endure. His mind used to be so full of sound, laughter and light…

But Aibou was living his life and until Atem knew that his return was permanent he refused to intrude. On him or his friends.

So he sat, legs dangling off the pier, doing his best to ignore the smell of salt and fish. He hummed a long forgotten tune, and as he did most nights, wondered why the hell the gods brought him back in the first place.

"Yeah, you lumbering fo-...." He's caught completely off guard. Pausing mid sentence as the other *pats his head*?????? There's a twitch in his eye as he steps back abruptly. The smug expression leaving his features suddenly. "I'm not you're little brother you mongrel!"

"Still as temperamental as always, I see." Odion offered a low, rumbling chuckle as he spoke. Mariku may have been terrifying to most people, but to the much larger man, he was still a member of the family. And a very loved one at that.

"You are as much my brother as Malik, whether you like it or not. The two of you came from the same soul, after all."

The melting snow pained the scene he had in mind just perfectly. He'd been planning this trip for months; documenting everything from surveillance to which back routes to take to avoid prying eyes. His leather bag was packed as much as it could take with everything he thought he'd need and more. A couple bottles of water. A cup to pour it in. Watercolor paints. Pencils. Pens. A sketchbook. Salt. Tea candles. A small pocket knife. A little black book. And so much more. It just so happened that he had a short work day and nothing going on tomorrow, so tonight made the perfect opportunity. 

The only thing breaking the silence encompassing the twilight skies was the soft crunch of leftover ice and twigs on the forest path. Should be around here somewhere, unless whoever owned this finally had the sense to build a fence or just tear it down. Just as he was about to give up on it, the tip of something caught his eye. A wooden, crumbling tip of a cross, to be more exact. Ah. There it is. He knew they wouldn't be stupid enough to touch it. A renewed confidence took over as he picked up his pace to get there before anyone had a chance of seeing him. Didn't really want to explain what the hell he was doing here at this hour.

The door nearly came off with Ryo's gentle pull. The rusted lock practically disintegrated with the cautious; nearly non-existent tug. It must've been left to rot for a while if it was falling apart this easily. Normally, Ryo wouldn't touch a church with a ten-foot pole after a particular incident, but the building itself really wasn't what he was here for.

It was the graveyard it was attached to.

It was Ryo's Monster World M.O.; every board he ever made had one somewhere on it. No matter how unnecessary it was. His footsteps echoed through the silent outer chamber as he took in the area. The stained glass was shattered; but the pieces were nowhere to be found. The pews were covered in cobwebs; moth-eaten bibles abandoned where they lay. Even the hanging chandelier had seen better days; loosely swaying from the ceiling by a severely rusted chain. That shit could fall on him if he wasn't careful. Dancing around the very obvious danger zone, he scuffled to the back to peer out from behind the holes punctured in the desecrated cathedral glass. The general silence of the graveyard, save for the occasional muffled passage of cars, was soothing to him. It was comforting, knowing it was just him and the dead in a damned place like this. Honestly, he didn't even know what drove him to come inside in the first place; it was windy and cold out there (plus he was certain he saw someone slow down a little too much when passing by) but it wasn't intolerable!

Ah, to hell with it. Might as well make use of the place if he's going to be here. 

He sat himself down in one of the pews, not particularly minding how much it creaked when he did. His leather bag was removed and sat next to him so he could start digging things out. Now, where'd he put that sketchbook...
