Candace Telford got 1st in the Art 4 Dialogue contest!! This piece right here took the gold! I am so proud of her. she was brave enough to compete with high school students that take art lessons, she was brave enough to let her work be judged, she was brave enough to just put herself out there for the first time. I always knew she was talented but my little mini just took 1st! For those of you who do not know the story... @telfordnaidu saw a tweet about an art contest for high schoolers then she texted me. I went online and saw that it only had a couple hours left until the deadline ended so @jshreenaidu called and spoke with the man running the entire show he asked Jay if it was worth it to him to give Candace an extension, he asked is she really that talented that he would be missing out if he didn't give her time to enter and Jay said yes she is THAT good. So because she wasn't in public school to know about the opportunity he granted her an extension! Candace was able to create this piece within 24 hours and then Jay and I entered her piece for her.. A month went by and we didn't hear anything. We all thought she would do good but since we didn't have anything to help us have a gage we really weren't sure how well she would do but obviously was hoping for the best. Today Jay contacted them for a status update and they let us know she got 1st place and they will be contacting us about the awards ceremony coming up in mid April!! I am in shock.. She has never had an art class or any guidance this was all her. Just incredible her imaginative her.
