Shark diving in the seas surrounding Cape Town was an unforgettable experience.
After a night spent at two different vineyards appreciating what seemed like every wine South Africa had to offer, I woke up at around 6am to get to Simon’s Town where we could cast off. Feeling rough and not in the least bit ready to wear skintight wet suits and cram breathing apparatus in my mouth, we set off into an ominously overcast day.
But despite what seemed to be a pathetic fallacy warding us away from the choppy waters where the Atlantic meets the Indian ocean, we persevered and managed to see dolphins, seals, and more than a glimpse of several 10 foot prehistoric killing machines.
At one point one of the bigger sharks breached and nearly landed on the boat, in what would have undoubtably been an untimely but kick=ass death for us intrepid British volunteers....
The quality of the video is a bit pants because I shot most of it on a GoPro and edited it in iMovie while I was still out there so apologies, but you get the gist...
Went for a sick run above the city yesterday evening. Signal Hill, Cape Town. Wish you were here
