BOBOIBOY : Captain Kaizo x Reader (ft. Abang Kassim)

notes: teasing Kaizo, I used both Kassim and Kaizo's names to determine who is the main subject since both have different personalities (hope this doesn't make it confusing)

other Kaizo fics will be posted soon if I have the time (hopefully) since I'm working on commissions and finals T^T.

Being a captain at TAPOPS, leisure time wasn't always given. You were either at a mission or busy attending a mountain of paperwork. Of course, you could just ask anyone from your team to handle it all for you, but everyone's also busy with something.

However, when you do find the time to relax and free yourself from work, you try to make the most of it. It always feels like these moments feel so short-lived and insufficient to how much you work, but even so, you can't help but find every moment worth the wait.

You were laughing with Boboiboy and his friends and— surprisingly, Kaizo(although he wasn't exactly laughing, more like a subtle smile on his face as he listened to the conversation).

Times like this, you'd expect your fellow captain to bid farewell and head back to his ship, but Fang has managed to persuade his brother to stay a little longer.

"Abang Kassim changed his mind and decided to grace us with his presence?" You teased as Kaizo took a seat, a scowl on his face as soon as he heard the name you uttered.

"Oh, for sure, bestie!" He replied, changing his demeanor to his Kassim persona. No expected him to go with the joke and had everyone laughing. You snickered at him as he pinched the bridge of his nose, clearly regretting his actions.

First time seeing Abang Kassim in action during that infiltration mission you've gone through with them had you gagged as you witness the ever so nonchalant, mean, and cold rebel captain act as the most hyperfriendly, smile-for-days random ship janitor you've ever seen. It was a core memory you'd keep repeating in your head, such a shame that you weren't able to record everything in real time. Though honestly, if Kaizo would ever find out you had footage of his soft, friendly side(even when it was all just an act), he'd hunt you down til the depths of the universe.

You grinned at him, finally able to cease your laughter, "Are you gonna keep playing as Abang Kassim or am I already talking to Kaizo?"

"Depends on who you wanna talk to, sweetie~" Abang Kassim replied, completely throwing you off guard with the nickname.

A chill ran down your spine as he smirked at your reaction, completely finding your surprised expression amusing, even at the cost of everyone witnessing it all unfold. It didn't matter to him anymore as soon as he saw your face red and flustered.

Abang Kassim hummed at your silence, "What's this? Cat got your tongue? I thought for sure you had something to say, bestie."

You bounced back and grinned at his snarky remark, "I was gonna say talking to Abang Kassim is much more... pleasant."

“Are you saying you dislike Captain Kaizo?”

“Stop twisting my words, Abang. I simply mean I enjoy conversing with someone with more personality than a dry sponge.”

A vein popped in Kaizo’s head. He knew you were trying to get under his skin and rile him up, toying with him like this while the others watched the scene unfold before them as they tried to resist laughing out loud. It even seems like you had the upper hand, and Kaizo didn’t like that one bit.

“Although Captain might seem cold and mean…” You continued, “I know for sure, under all that rough bravado, he’s sweet… and gentle, y’know like a teddy bear that likes to cuddle.”

You caught Kaizo off guard with your statement, a mortified look on his face as Boboiboy and his gang listened in awe and amusement— even more coming from Fang.

Captain Kaizo? Gentle? Sweet? 

Three words that had everyone turn their heads towards you as soon as they left your mouth. Three words that seemed too impossible to be even used in the same sentence without the use of any negative implications. Three words that only you had personally witnessed— and perhaps experienced, in real time.

Everyone had collectively agreed that maybe there’s so much more to reveal about their captain.

“Eh?” Boboiboy spoke up, holding back a snicker. “Is that even possible?”

“Why don’t you ask Abang Kassim yourself since he’s very much acquainted with Captain Kaizo?”

This whole play felt like it had been going on for ages, and Kaizo grumbled under his breath, slightly acting out of character. He debated with himself whether he should cease his act and just dismiss himself from the conversation.

Kaizo decided to amuse you for a little more, suddenly pulling you closer to wrap an arm around your shoulder, “I’m not too sure about that, darlin’. The Captain and I don’t always see eye to eye, you get me? I mean, compared to him, I’m just a mere ship janitor. Couldn’t even imagine bringing myself to clean his ship.”

“Because you’re not the one actually cleaning it…” Someone in the background muttered, left unheard by everyone else.

You hummed at Kaizo’s reply, amused. You saw that familiar glint in his eyes, the one that surfaces every time he’s up to something no good, the kind of look he gives you when he plans to give you a hard time bringing yourself back up.

It felt a little weird for the gang to see their captains act this silly, especially when they won’t even gain anything from it, but it didn’t change the fact that it was rather entertaining to see this other side of Kaizo being actively teased and mortified reaction, no matter how much he hides it.

Kaizo couldn’t wait for this whole fiasco to end and perhaps have a little more than a heart-to-heart talk with y/n personally back at their ship.

“You wouldn’t want Captain Kaizo angered, don’t you? Spreading baseless accusations of the famed Rebel Space Captain being soft and cuddly.” Kassim added, giving a warning glare towards the teens.

“Are you, though?” You grinned at him.

“Now, who are you referring to, munchkin?”

“Dunno’, depends on who I’m talking to right now. I don’t think I’ve been keeping track. Why don’t we continue this somewhere? I think I’ve had enough reminiscing for today.”

Kassim smirked, “I like where this is going.”

“We won’t be doing any of that.”

And before anyone could even utter a word, both captains had left, and had everyone confused about what just happened. They couldn’t utter a single word or comment about what just happened.

One minute they were enjoying teasing their stoic captain, then the next he was being dragged and followed along willingly. It was happening all too fast that it took time for them to get a clue what might’ve just happened.

“I swear, they can’t keep their hands to themselves when they get so close together.” Fang sighed, obviously the only other person who had been keeping tabs on his brother and his secret girlfriend.

“You mean they’re like that?”

“You mean like…”

“Yeah. Didn’t you know?”

Apparently not.

Kaizo Rewrite/Headcanons ||

Okay, as someone who used to be a fan of BoBoiBoy, I've came back to it recently and felt like sharing this, since I have a lot of qualms in how the show handles Kaizo as a character

A bit of a heads up, I'm not entirely caught up on the current lore of the series, and my memory is pretty foggy in general so I might have some things wrong + this rewrite is somewhat rooted on headcanons I have of him

CW: mentions of abuse and unhealthy coping mechanisms

So we all know his character in the original series was written to be more cruel and cold-hearted, and I'd like to acknowledge that, and how Galaxy serves us the explanation that he's not truly or deliberately bad, but rather traumatized and just has a hard time showing his true feelings or care in the correct way

Though I'd take it in a different direction

Ignoring canon where his parents are alive. I think his entire homeplanet was destroyed when he was young, which led hin to be taken in by T.A.P.O.P.S which led him to be raised as a child soldier.

Growing up in the literal equivalent of a space military when you're thirteen surely wouldn't do any favors for your mental health, so I assume he was most likely treated terribly and most likely grew up as a child soldier, ex: being forced to train until exhaustion and or neglect of his emotional needs from the adults watching him, so he grew up having trust issues, grew detached from all of the relationships he ever had and or formed, essentially shutting himself from people and just keeping them all at arms length. Not excluding his brother, actually most definitely his brother, because losing him would hurt the most, so not only does he do it out of tough love, but also because of fear for either he'll die first so Fang won't be attached, or if Fang's gone, he won't be as affected.

Hence why he acted the way he did in canon, it's a result of trauma from what happened to him and the environment he was raised in.

I would also like to bring up how Kassim is a very vital part to his character.

But before we dive into that, I have to establish another headcanon first.

So first things first, we all know how he canonically does undercover missions, it's so far the only missions he's shown to be on, at least from how much I've watched and read, but he's given the title captain, when he really only works with two people, a bit strange. So in my headcanon I'd say he is leading a squad but they're often separated due to their different expertises, Kaizo often works his brother and Lahap or just solo due to the fact he's more specialized in undercover rather than others.

Which he truly does, in canon he's shown able to just switch his personality in the flick of a switch, his usual cold and calculated demeanor changed into something more happy-go-lucky and friendly, and it's also interesting to note that during undercovers he shows his face while on regular missions he's shown to wear a mask that literally covers his entire face, wonder if that's a metaphor for something.

I like to think during undercovers, by not wearing a mask it shows him being able to let loose more, to show parts of him other people wouldn't know, because in the end, those people who sould see this side of him doesn't truly know who is, because he's still undercover and playing a facade with little cracks, he's hiding himself but barely.

While having forced back to his actual self, his real identity, Captain Kaizo, he feels like everyone has their eyes set on him, by wearing a mask he's both protecting his identity from the enemy and the people he knows, showing how he's so closed off yet not far from sight with them, Kaizo is just like a person who's always been there but not at the same time, no one really truly knows him but himself, but yet even then he wonders sometimes if who he thinks he is is really him.
