I actually just ranted about the Hook situation earlier today, in my case it bothers me how Hook is more of an 'attachment to Emma' than his very own character and it truly bothers me. He is my favourite character and I dislike where things have gone for him despite still loving the heck out of him. Nothing against CS, I just don't like how the writers made CS change Hook for the worse when it could've easily been written in a way where Hook could remain more of himself.

No need to apologize! Especially considering my response will be even longer lol. Honestly I don’t think Hook changed for the worse because his redemption arc is my favorite thing on this show, but I think what changed is the writer’s treatment of him after his redemption. Sadly, I do agree with you on Killian turning into an attachment to Emma. I’m sad because both the character and the ship deserved better. After his redemption ended it’s like the writers don’t know what to do, so they turned him into an attachment for Emma and started creating more and more “past to haunt him” cause apparently they can’t come up with anything else which is ridiculous because WHERE IS MY MOMMY JONES?! WHERE’S THE STRUGGLES OF BB!KILLIAN THE SLAVE? There’s so much to do with his character, I mean the guy is over 300 years old for fuck’s sake, but the writers chose not to deal with these and instead chose to give us ridiculous moments of characters who had countless meaningless backstories already. But that’s a new development and I’m glad he’s the male character who’s been treated that way the least (except Rumple probably). His level of treatment of being an attachment to the female half of a ship is less than Charming and especially Robin who had literally ZERO character imo. (I seriously feel so bad for Sean for that because he seems like such a lovely guy, I wish the writer’s actually gave him more to play with instead then perhaps I could even like O/Q despite the fact that I hate one half of the ship) But again he deserved much better than what Adam and Eddy gave him. In an attempt to write strong women A&E completely ignore that they have male characters who should be treated the same way as well. That’s the problem with media actually, they write male characters and turn women into sidekicks or fragile things to be saved and A&E is doing it to their male characters instead. And sadly neither is actually good writing.

when i came out of anesthesia once i was bawling and demanded my stuffed unicorn and also a season of dexter i really wanted to watch. i have no memory of this

the show is much more pleasing for malec fans imo, in the books alec is uncomfortably biphobic and they both disappear for a while around the fourth book? i'd say go ahead and watch the show but it's totally up to you!
