Dear, I haven’t thought about this moment at all, but you just reminded me. Holy shit, yes.
They surely don’t fade entirely, remember Jace seeing Jem’s faded rune in COHF and feeling bad for him.
But yeah, we’re onto something here, I guess.
I read your parabatai reply, which was SUPER detailed and actually really good, and it got me thinking.. Shouldn't the rune have faded and therefore their bond been broken due to Jace's death, despite the fact he was resurrected? Idk just a thought that came to me just now. Maybe it makes no sense at all?
This is another thing I think about, like, a lot. As said, the gap between Jace dying and Clary finding him, defeating Valentine and summoning Raziel who chatted with her for a bazillion years must’ve been quite big.
So when the bond breaks, the rune should begin to fade, not immediately but yeah. And a rune probably can’t tell if your dead Parabatai returns from ghostland without the necessary protection spells. So, yes, I do think you are right, the rune should have faded.
F/e: When Jem turned into a Silent Brother, he still could use Shadowhunter runes, yet only those who were specifically for the Silent Brothers.
So basically there should be no reason for Alec’s and Jace’s runes to stick in their place when one of them actually died.
