I know it was a random plot device thing that was later abandoned, but IC I’m sure Louis is fairly perplexed.
Temple Explorations | Captain Dietums
It was sometime in the afternoon when Louis was packed and certain she had everything necessary for a few hour long trek through a forest. The forest itself was situated behind the port the galleon was docked at presently. For the most part there was nothing particularly interesting or unusual about the forest, but Louis had heard a story or two about some old temple located close to the center. There wasn't exactly much information regarding who the temple might have belonged to at some point, though finding out was part of why Louis wanted to locate it.
While Louis' interest was largely academic she may or may not have vaguely implied the possibility of treasure, or something, existing while mentioning it to others on board. Then again, if there was anything of monetary value Louis doubted it would still be there now. The forest wasn't terrible dangerous, and it wasn't as if the few miles in to the temple were back breaking, so even if there was nothing in terms of treasure Louis was optimistic that it wouldn't upset the crew, or Diet, too much.
At the moment, Louis was waiting at the edge of the beach. She'd opted out of wearing anything dressy or too elaborate this time and had found that men's clothing was a bit more comfortable for this sort of venture. Thankfully, her ensemble of clothing articles seemed to fit this time. A bag of provisions was slung over her shoulder, because starving or getting an infected wound were low on Louis' list of priorities. The downside to all of this was Louis' lack of sword handling capabilities (and lack of a sword or anything weapon-like really), but then she wasn't expecting a lot of danger.
"Tha' book about witch craft... I be havin' ye walk tha' plank if ye even come close to Grog with tha'." He waves his finger at her, looking suspicious.
o _o
Well, it’s safe to say Louis is significantly less confused about what the silly captain had been going on about. She doesn’t say anything right away, partially because she’s unsure if she can speak without snickering. On the plus side, she thinks, he hadn’t tried tossing her overboard for just having the book.
"Don’t be ridiculous, I already have a cat." Frowny, trying not to smile face.
"Somethin' about tha cats? Hm? I saw that last book ye be readin' 'nd I don't want'ta gettin' any ideas."
. _.
Louis looks genuinely confused about what he’s talking about concerning the last book she was reading. Unfortunately, to Louis, it sounds as if Diet had managed to stumble upon her cat stash.
"Which book?" Casually sets aside her ink covered pen.
A certain pirate is looking suspiciously at Louis, tapping his booted toe on the floor of the ship. "You be wantin' tah tell me somethin', missy?"
Louis is presently situated on the floor, surrounded by books, blank bits of parchment and a certain owl inkwell. She looks up, mildly alarmed and perplexed.
"Uh…I don’t know?" A quizzical eyebrow is raised.
Several Years in The Past...
Five year old Louis let her dangling feet swing back and forth in the space under her chair. In her tiny arms she held a plush, orange cat with big, green buttons for eyes. Her mother was around, mostly interacting with various people, while her father was tending to her brother's minor injuries in private. Really, Louis had told Alois he'd get hurt climbing about on things, but he hadn't listened and now Louis was stuck being bored by herself.
Anyway, she didn't see the point in getting all dressed up and parading around silly social events. Despite Louis' huffing and puffing about it the family of four still ended up attending various parties and such. At five years of age Louis didn't see the point in it, but then the doctor and his wife were adamant about them and their children maintaining decent social standing. Thankfully, no one had come up to pinch at her cheeks and comment on how cute she was.
The only thing she liked about all of this was the desserts on the dessert table and all the shiny things. Most of the dresses she saw were nice, even if they were silly and impractical. Then there were the various jeweled ornaments people had on that caught her attention... After some consideration Louis thought about leaving her seat to look through the dessert table.
The Next Morning | Several Months or So Post!Abduction
After Destan fell asleep in Louis' bunk on one of the lower decks she slipped her clothing back into place and left quietly. She had planned on checking on the captain after Destan was asleep and now seemed to be around that time. While ascending to Diet's cabin she began to realize how achy she was in places and then contemplated what had happened in the last few hours. It hadn't been terrible, if anything it had been kind of nice, but she felt just a bit conflicted about it all.
Eventually, at the door to Diet's cabin, Louis attempted to push it open to check if he'd woken up yet or not. She was kind of tired and her bed down below was much smaller and not nearly as comfortable as Diet's bed. Of course, she probably could have tried pushing Destan over a bit, but that seemed rude, so sleeping in Diet's cabin just made sense. That and Louis hadn't really minded Diet canoodling with her earlier.
