No, no, thank you for that lesson. I've lost count of how many times they said during the election results before I turned it off that the reason UKIP have been getting so many votes is because what they're saying is actually different to what the big three are replying with when they're asked about intentions and policies and that actually the EU situation rarely comes into it. I seriously hope that this is a kick in the face for all three of them because it really needs to be

God it’s so annoying. My mother agreed with them initially, like full on agreed with UKIP because, yes, immigration is an issue. You have hundreds of undocumented immigrants entering the country illegally every month, and that is bad, but immigration itself isn’t bad. It took me nearly an hour to explain to her that UKIP is an extremist party just like the BNP, that it is actually choc-full of racists who focus on a Western European, white doctrine and not actually good for the country. It then took me a further hour to get her to realise that the EU is both a good and bad thing. 

Britain didn’t really ‘vote’ to join the EU, we haven’t had any referendums about our participation in it since we joined in like 1957 (I think it was 57, mind be a few years out), and that is bad. We should have the right to vote on this, if not every five years then at least once a decade because the EU has changed. Originally it was about the free market within a predefined sphere so that those countries who were part of it could benefit. Now it’s about taxation, control and the limitation of what individual countries can do.

Britain wastes over 1 million tonnes of food every year, near enough half of that food is wasted before it even hits the shops because the EU issued limits on the size of food - a cabbage has to be ‘this’ size, an egg can’t be bigger than ‘that’. That makes food expensive, because we have a far more limited amount than we’d otherwise have. Add in the fact a lot of our food is imported because of the limitations placed by the EU and you have the problem of cost vs efficiency.

There’s also the fact that we pay billions of pounds every year into the EU and into Aid relief programs designed and implemented by the EU when we have enough economical and social problems at home. That money could be better spent on improving infrastructure in front-line services, in training more people, in providing better education, better social housing, more job opportunities. Instead it’s given to a corporation (because that is what the EU is in the end) which uses a fair share of it for its own frickin’ wages and to ‘beef’ itself up.

The money that goes into the Aid relief programs could be better spent by being given direct to the people of Third World countries, not the corrupt dictators and governments that run them. Instead of giving the corrupt officials the money, which they will use on themselves and not on the people, building schools and wells, improving living directly by using INDEPENDENT CHARITIES like Unicef would do a damn sight more good all around than what the EU programs do.

The British courts are regulated by the EU, to the degree that half of the decisions made in our courts can be overturned by the EU Rights Division (IDK the name for them). That is direct interference in the judicial, social, cultural and political activities of a single country. It’s an infringement on the basic democratic rights that each country has, individually and collectively.

UKIP doesn’t stand for anything with the EU. Indeed, they’d probably remain part of it but alienate damn near every country and do more harm to Britain because of their stance on ‘immigrants’ and the BNP is no better.

The Green Party wants to remain in the EU, the Conservatives have a love affair with Brussels because they have corporate connections. The Lib Dems aren’t far behind and Labour wouldn’t pull out of the EU since it was when they were in power that we joined (if I remember correctly).

So, all in all, none of the parties will leave the EU and, as a result, Britain is near enough entirely at the mercy of an organisation that itself doesn’t care for anything other than maintaining the status quo.

The EU is very different from immigration, it’s different from the issues facing Britain internally. But it has everything to do with those things. And anyone who ignores it, who says, “oh well the parties are doing the right thing for Britain” is a fool because it’s not the right thing for us, it’s the right thing for them and capitalism.
