So this ark session was eventful

I'm trying to figure out different theropod head shapes since I want to draw more of them. Here's what I'm learning about some of them so far.

Tyrannosaurs

- Tall and thick heads

- Closed mouth line is like a long and somewhat curved zigzag

Dromaeosaurs

- Long and slender heads

- Backward facing curved teeth

Dilophosaurs

- Long head with a gentle curve on the top half

- Big crests that grow in height away from the front, and end in a curve

Carcharodontosaurs

- A mix of dromaeosaur and dilophosaur head shape; long head, taller and more curved upper half

- Thick and somewhat rectangular lower jaw

- Backward facing teeth

wait if we have carcharodontosaurs in southern australia does this mean that walking with dinosaurs' "polar allosaur" is semi-legit again?

(yes i know it was based on what we now know is a megaraptorid specimen, but since megaraptorids are probably tyrannosaur relatives instead of allosauroids well…)

(Series planner anon): I really appreciate all of your help so far. Stay cool, comrade. But I do have one more question: In regards to Carcharodontosaurs; like Giganotosaurus or Carcharodontosaurus, would you think it would be alright to portray them as scaly or give them a coat of protofeathers? (Oh and tell Spinosaurus the fisher that he has been a great help as well.)

Well, we don’t have much to go on for feathers on Carnosaurs. We know at least part of the flanks of Allosaurus and the underside of Concavenator’s tail were scaly. Of course this does not rule out feathers completely... and you are asking a blog named liberaldinosaurfan... So I’d say go for fluff on the head, across the spine, maybe something like a feather vest a-la Cassowaries. 

You could also pick the side of the debate that believes certain markings on Concavenator are quil knobs and add loosely distributed quills on their bodies. (There’s also evidence for scutes under the tail, something similar to Saurian’s Pachycephalosaurus for the tail could work).
