Lost Carcosa
me and my husband
context : what if the neglected reader finds the book of king in yellow and ends up marrying an eldritch horror being
Chapter 1 , Chapter 2
Bruce never thought this would happen.
Not to you
No one thought this would happen to you.
Bruce had tried his best to give you a normal life.
A normal life.
Without aliens, mutants, killers, killer clowns, man-eating plants.A life without having to become Robin.
This was the only thing he could do for you and your mother.
After all,
it was Bruce's mistake that your mother was killed in that way.
If Bruce could have taken proper care of Jason, none of this would have happened.
Bruce knew Lilia never truly had romantic feelings for him.
Yes, they were friends (more like acquaintances) and had slept together a few times,
but Lilia never truly had romantic feelings for Bruce, although Bruce had thought about marrying Lilia a few times.
He had often thought about the possibilities if Lilia hadn't died.Maybe he could have convinced Lilia to marry him, even if it was for money. Y/N would have been born in the mansion, would have befriended Dick and Jason from childhood.
Maybe Lilia would be alive now, and you wouldn't be missing, and everyone would be in the mansion at this moment. But no.You were missing.
And the one who noticed your disappearance wasn't Bruce.
It wasn't Dick.
It wasn't Jason.
It wasn't Stephanie.
It wasn't Cass.
It wasn't Damian.
It wasn't Duke.
It wasn't even Alfred.
The one who noticed your disappearance was an old cemetery guard whom you only visited once a week
And when he saw you hadn't visited the cemetery for two weeks, he got worried and called the police.
Every time Bruce thought about this, a bitter bile of self-hatred rose in his throat;
he was Batman and hadn't even noticed his own daughter was missing for two weeks.
Since then, Bruce had been doing everything he could to hear a sign, a trace, a rumor of you.
He had investigated, asked Clark for help, asked the Justice League for help, questioned villains, checked street cameras, but there was no trace of you. Clark heard no sound from you anywhere in the world, Flash had searched everywhere but there was no trace of you,
as if you had never existed!
Finally,
Bruce searched your room,
hoping he might find something there.Your room was full of paintings, most of them completed,
but you still had one painting you were working on, and now it remained unfinished.
Papers full of poems and texts covered your desk.
Bruce never knew you were interested in art.
If Bruce had paid attention,
would you have liked to give him random information about your favorite painter?
Would you have liked to force Bruce to come with you to art museums?
Would you have liked Bruce to read your writings?
In any case, it was no use.
You had been missing for a year.
Bruce didn't want to think about the possibility that you might be dead.
Bruce ran a hand over his face and sat on the edge of your bed, letting out a shaky sigh and trying to ignore the tears that had wet his eyes.
Dick wasn't doing well.
No one was doing well.
Bruce's investigations led nowhere.
And you had been missing for a whole year.
And guilt was eating Dick alive.
Dick should have been there, he should have taken you to the cemetery, he should have walked with you every Friday.
Then maybe he could have protected you from whatever happened that day in the cemetery.
Dick should have acted like an older brother.
He could still remember the first time he saw you.
You were a very small child, wearing a sweater with a cat on it and your hair tied with a barrette.Seeing this innocence after Jason's death made Dick want to cry.
But you never liked Dick as a child.Dick tried to get close to you, but you seemed to avoid him.
Dick was really a terrible older brother....
Damian didn't want to accept that you were dead.
Everyone had given up.
Bruce hadn't been able to find any evidence of you.Bruce had given up hope of finding you.
Alfred still cried some nights, looking at your childhood photos. There weren't many photos of you, which only fueled Damian's anger.
Dick was depressed.
Jason was more violent, killing every villain he could, hoping that maybe one of them was your killer.
Tim was investigating to find out how you died.
Stephanie tried to pretend she was fine, but she wasn't the same Stephanie anymore.
Cass tried her best to comfort Stephanie.
Her older sister was missing.
And everyone was forgetting you, pretending you were dead!
You weren't dead!
Damian was sure you weren't dead.
You couldn't die.
Even if it was your body, Damian would find you and take you to the Lazarus Pit.You would be fine.
Damian was sure.Damian wouldn't let you die!
Y/N Martha Wayne, told to be missing .
News reports stated that the Wayne family was offering a large sum of money to anyone who could find their daughter.
But there was no trace of Y/N.
And it had been a year since anyone had any news about the missing person's whereabouts, or whether they were alive or dead.
It was said that the last time the missing person was seen,at 8 PM, a cemetery guard saw the missing person, with disheveled clothes, messy hair, a pale and thin face, barefoot, and clutching an item tightly to their chest, leaving the cemetery.
The guard said they had tried many times to stop and call out to the missing person, but the missing person continued on their way.
If you see any sign of Y/N Martha Wayne, alive or dead, please contact the Wayne family at their number.

spoilers for destroying a world that doesnt exist!!!
Has anyone noticed that the yellow flowers on Avery's flannel resemble the star in the middle of the yellow palace, that teleports derlord to tkiy?
I don't know if this is an intentional detail wifies put in but it'd be really impressive if it was. Also makes sense for Avery because he was supposed to be the vessel for tkiy, so incorporating symbols associated with that sacrifice into his design would be smart.
Have you guys watched true detective season one? It’s about these two old queens from Louisiana…
I'm having fun with sticker designs.
I Think I've Figured It Out? (Mostly...)

It's funny that how out of all things, the best adaptation of the King In Yellow ends up being a Minecraft ARG. And yes, this is my current temporary hyper fixation.
So OBVIOUSLY, I must rant about it :)
Again, this is only my personal theory on it so it's probably gonna be hella wrong and might have inconsistencies 😅 but this is the best possible explanation I can think of.
Just note that throughout this little rant of mine, "The King In Yellow" will refer to the play itself and "Hastur" to the entity/eldritch horror known as The King In Yellow/The Unspeakable One as deemed by August Derleth. I obviously won't cover everything bit by bit because most of it is already clear, I'll just dive into the slightly more debated ones.
^ This is probably what I look like trying to explain this to y'all 😭
This is gonna be so long...*sigh*
I've fallen into a new fandom, i fear.....
hiii I'd love to get more eyes to my personal project Carcosa (inspired by the king in yellow)
