The little streak of orange darted out from under the cart, apple clenched in his teeth, claws scrabbling on the ground. Two hops of its nubby little legs brought it up onto another cart, just out of the range of its pursuers. It darted along the wood, overturning pots and wares, desperately trying to escape the portly man behind it.
Off the edge, under the skirt of a passerby, around a corner, and quickly scrambling into a closing door, the fuzzball finally had a moment to rest, but instead continued its quick run under a table and found refuge beneath a half overturned shield.
A beat passed, then two, before Gnar relaxed. Nothing seemed to have followed him inside the place. The place reeked of fire and burning, but he was sure that would dissuade his pursuers. Prey ran from fire, not towards it. He spat the apple out into his paws, chattering to himself before tucking eagerly into it, cyan tipped tail flicking excitedly from beneath the shield.
