definitely not. the one you've been looking for will come along at a time where you'll be ready for them to reach out and talk to them and accept them in your life. the opportunity will present itself when you're ready to take it. You're not missing out on anything because you're not yet ready for those things, but the time will come when you'll be the person you want to be and you'll meet the people and do the things you want.

That is literally what happens, friend, that is EXACTLY what happens. Palpatine sees Anakin alone in the Senate and is like “ah, Anakin--” and SUDDENLY MACE WINDU SWINGS IN THROUGH THE FUCKING WINDOW AND GRABS ANAKIN BY THE BACK OF HIS ROBES AND THEY ARE GONE  

“Um, I did actually need to talk to Senator Organa about our escort mission next week, Mom,” Anakin reminds him mid-swing, and that is the story of why Master Windu and his padawan were climbing the outside of the Senate building to break into Alderaan’s senatorial offices, sorry to get security all in a tizzy but also maybe security needs to be a little less neurotic about Perfectly Normal Jedi Things™? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Darcy is a lady-in-waiting to the newly-married Princess Jane of Asgard, who herself is still in the “omgwtf I was only a BARONESS BEFORE THIS JFC WHY DID MY SOULMATE HAVE TO BE A PRINCE OF ASGARD” stage and not really adjusting super-great to actually being at court as opposed to hanging out on her dad’s old estates with his old buddy Viscount Selvig. Like, she’s very popular with the poor and the middle class and even the merchants, but the other nobles are kinda like *disdainful lip curl* about things and she’s gotta win them over basically one at a time. Darcy, meanwhile, has to handle all Jane’s shit and all Jane’s weird hobbies and–whyyyyy does she have star charts and a telescope and WHAT EVEN IS THIS DEVICE FOR IT FUCKING GLOWS IN THE DARK??–and also avoid Prince Loki’s weird creepin’, because he is just way too interested in what is going on in Jane’s chambers. Or possibly Darcy’s?? She’s not actually sure and she DOESN’T WANT TO HAVE TO FIND OUT, PLEASE CAN THEY GO TO YORK FOR THE WINTER, PRINCESS JANE. 

They totally go to York for the winter. Thor sends his most trusted soldiers Lady Sif and the Warriors Three to be their bodyguards and a clerk to do the writing-down of things and Jane and Darcy go to discuss Princess Jane’s “hobbies” with some crackpot duke who thinks he’s a scholar and an ~ALCHEMIST~, the man is crazy, he literally wears red armor into battle. And just around the house. Red. Armor. WHY. Still, Darcy is super glad for this. Seriously, her dad was a KNIGHT, she has zero recourse to avoid Prince Loki if he wants to push it, THANK GOD AND ENGLAND FOR JANE FOSTER. 

Or so she’s thinking right up until some goddamn elven bandits in creepy face masks run the goddamn carriage off the road into a ditch, which. Ugh. Ughhhhh. Time to get out the wand her mom gave her when she went to work for Princess Jane, she guesses; yeah it’s not ladylike but neither is GRUESOME DEATH SO LET’S GET TO SUMMONING THE LIGHTNING. 

Sif and the Three do some ass-kicking, Darcy electrocutes some of the bandits out of immediate reach of their weapons by calling down vengeful Asgardian-quality lightning, and Jane messes with one of her little devices with a look of extreme concentration and not NEARLY enough concern for her mortal form oh my GOD, PRINCESS, SERIOUSLY– 

Jane’s device clicks. And glows. 

And explodes. 

Jane goes one way off the roof; Darcy goes the other. A great deal of screaming and chaos happens. Volstagg catches Jane and Hogun covers them and Fandral and Sif are WAY too far away to do the same for Darcy, who lands on her back on the ground in a FUCKING CORSET and yeah so much for breathing anytime soon and where–is–her fucking–WAND–

“Fuck,” Darcy would say as one of the surviving bandits looms up over her, except she legit can’t breathe at ALL right now so instead it’s more a strangled choking noise. The bandit raises their weapon, all pointy death and doom, and Darcy realizes she is going to die. 

Then the clerk re-appears out of nowhere (i.e. his very-wisely-retreated-to hiding place because CLERK) to apply the VERY effective lever of a broken tree and topples the crashed carriage right on top of said bandit. Darcy gets blood all over her dress. It’s super-gross. Darcy also gets to not DIE, though, so HEY SHE IS COOL WITH THIS, THIS IS TOTES FINE WITH HER. Darcy is so glad to be alive that the second she gets on her feet while the clerk is still freaking out over the whole killing a dude thing, she just THROWS herself at him and kisses his stupid clerk-y FACE. 

And ooooops. This is one of those AUs where soulmates’s first skin-to-skin contact is what leaves the soulmark, isn’t it. :X 

“NO HE DIDN’T TAKE ANY LIBERTIES WITH A WOMAN ABOVE HIS CLASS, GODDAMMIT, GET LIVES,” Darcy yells for the ten thousandth time as Sif and Hogun save Ian from the latest misguided-ass knight/noble/royal/whatever.
