Carla Kader is a gambler, gemcutter and member of the surface Carta. Born casteless in Orzammar, she escaped to the surface with her father, but not before she was given her brand. She’s a skilled lock-breaker, pickpocket and scout, wields a bow as well as any Dalish hunter and has broken many non-dwarven knees in her time. She prefers deception over violence and scoffs at anyone who wants her to shave her beard. Non-dwarves who accept the beard are more likely to find a loyal friend in her. She bonds with people over her own nug and pumpkin stew and is deeply in love with the Carta leader. Her operation lies mainly in the village of Salmont, in Orlais. While she has little patience for social events, her keen, well-trained senses and familiarity with deception nevertheless help her greatly when dealing with allies, enemies, rivals and just about anyone else who tries to get her to do favours for them.
