What Baking Can Do - Octavia Cahill & Carly Smith

A/N: A second super late gift for @littlebvtterfly 's birthday gift exchange.

“She’s here…” Pop speaks softly as he leans against the wall of the kitchen, watching Carly slice the fresh baked apple pie she’s just finished baking. It’s clear what happened before with Hal has shaken half the town but Octavia being safe is a good thing. Carly pauses what she’s doing, plating a slice of pie and pouring the perfect cup of coffee for Octavia, glancing at Pop. “Charge me for this, okay? Let me treat her this once…” Pop just smiles, stepping aside to let her pass, watching as Carly sets the pie and coffee in front of Octavia. What he doesn’t see or hear is Carly asking if Octavia is okay. She lingers longer than usual, watching Octavia work and finally just dropping into the seat opposite her to take her hand when Octavia looks up. “Seriously, Tavie… are you okay?” “I’m fine.” Octavia promises again, her smile not quite reaching her eyes even as she squeezes Carly’s hand. She knows, too well, that people know now what happened but it’s nice to feel cared about.

The stage they had that season could look so menacing with just the right lighting. And it really doesn't get more menacing than that with Carly and Kieran seemingly awaking from a paralyzing slumber, tortured by the last remnants of the nightmares they shared, ready to wreak havoc on the world as angry birds (1:20), pardon, furious angels.
