Good evening! If you had to pick your top 5 fics that you've written, what would they be? 💜

Good evening! <3 For starters,ahhhhh how am I supposed to pick favorites I’m so bad at this fjdskl;fjsla;, but thank you for asking!! I’m going to not count Support System because we all know it’s my baby and I will love it the most forever so it’s almost unfair to try and throw it in with other things I’ve written, nothing else will ever stand a chance xD 1. Weight of Living - I love this fic so much. It’s very heavy and I wanted to be extra careful with how I portrayed some of the themes and emotions in this one, giving a deeper look into Raphael’s feelings after that breakdown/lash out he has after Rosa dies, his almost father-son relationship with Magnus, his still-new connection with Simon. It hurts all the way through but it ends with a bit of optimism, which since then has been a definite theme in my heavier angst.

2. Life in the Shadow of Death - This isn’t like anything else I’ve written. It’s more of an introspective character study than anything else, following Jace from birth to present and reflecting on the way death seems to be such an instrumental part of shaping who he is throughout every stage of his life so far. I love the way the concept came together in the end and I’m really proud of it, and of myself for taking a chance on something outside my normal comfort zone. 3. I Could Really Use The Win - A fic that has both Magnus and Alec POVs of the training scene in 3x12. After the initial hype of first watching the scene faded, a few things didn’t sit right with me, and this was my attempt at working through them. I love pieces where I can take an existing scene and elaborate or expand on it, try to get into the character’s heads, and this is my favorite one of those I did during season 3. I mostly did it to bridge a gap for myself with some deeper context/analysis, and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of comments I got on this one saying how right it felt for the characters <3 <3 (also for the record, I love this scene to pieces with or without digging deeper behind the playful banter it’s mostly billed as!!)

4. Something Worth Protecting - I started this after the 3A finale, a coda that picks up from the moment Lilith explodes the top of that building, following the next few hours of Magnus coming to terms with the loss of his magic and immortality, as well as losing Clary, Alec’s injuries, and the aftermath they’re all dealing with now. I really enjoy the way I had things play out in those turning-point moments while emotions ran high and it’s everything I wish we got to see between 3A and 3B.5. I’m going to cheat for the last one and say my Flufftober Ficlets (I technically posted them as one ‘fic’, with 31 chapters). I tried to do a different pairing for each day, and while there is some repeats it’s a lot of varied friendships and romantic couples who were all a lot of fun to try my hand at! Really, there’s a little something for everyone in there, though I’m particularly fond of my Ragnor-is-still-alive pairings/fix-its and my two This World Inverted set Clace stories! (Bonus: they’re labeled by characters in the chapter titles for easy navigation if there are some you’d prefer to read, or prefer to avoid!)

(and because I’m Trash™ and went through and re-read so many of my fics that I’m sure my top 5 would be entirely different if I answered tomorrow, some honorable mentions (because how can I just pick 5 out of 134?! Impossible.) : Shed My Skin, My Scars, it runs in the family , Showing Hearts, Better Together, cadence of my heart, A Way With Words, Traces of Love, and I’m going to stop now I just have a lot of feelings about a lot of things I’ve written and I’m already the worst at picking favorites of anything, let alone things I’m emotionally attached to. asking me to talk about my own writing is always a mistake fjdskljf;lasdfjsa)
