My father taught me how to sail on the lake near our home. I will never forget the ways to tie the knots, or turn the boat without tipping it.
At school I was told by any number of people that I was not good enough. I was lesser than them, and I would never fit in. I still think that they were right about the latter, and somehow, even as I am out of school, I find myself doubting my abilities or hating myself for falling short.

They had been lying on their back watching the stars, Reg telling her stories about the real star and about the family. She asked question after question and he spoke more than she could ever remember.The stars started to fade as it grew lighter out and they realised it was much later than either thought. She decided to stay the night. Reg asked her what people would say, she told him it didn’t matter any more, they could spend every night together if they wanted now.She held out her hand to him with a grin and he took it smiling back at her. She pulled him up to his room, whispering constantly about the stars and different stories around them; much more her style than facts and figures.
She looked around his room, asking him about a few things as she did so. Eventually she picked out a book and asked him to read it to her. She ignored his reluctance and sat against the headboard on his bed, waiting for him to join her.
First her head was on his shoulder but then it was on his chest and then they were lying down, Laila listening to his heart as he read.
It was a night of awkward moments and boundaries being pulled and tested. It was soft, gentle, slow and very innocent. But there was something different about them when they woke up in the morning, things were easier.

Who thinks ‘Maybe a home birth is a good idea’: Laila, she’s terrified of hospitals.
Who is in charge when it comes to decorating the nursery: Laila.
Who talks to the unborn baby the most: Laila, she narrates her day to the baby.
Who suggests having sex to kick start labor: Laila.
Who cries the most when the baby is born: Regulus.

When Sirius was younger he didn’t really understand the difference between siblings and cousins. So to him Bellatrix, Andromeda, and Narcissa were his sisters. And no one really seemed bothered enough to correct him. Not until he started Hogwarts and he went to talk to Bellatrix one day. He went up and proudly called her his big sister in front of his friends. But she quickly shot him down and said she would never want a Gryffindor as a brother and that he was just a cousin. He stayed in his room for the rest of the day crying because of it.
