Just a note to you telling you a bit about me...

This week and last I have lost about 30 "fans" after sharing opinionated posts regarding politics and music. I also was accused of trying to be a "porn quasi instacelebrity" after posting a video of myself spitting up tofu during a boring dinner at an uppity restaurant...Which was weird, but after further discussion I cleared up some things and came to an understanding with the follower of mine who made this comment and I appreciate him participating in a discussion. However, that comment and the 'death threats' and insults I got from posting things on here recently have made me want to say a few things. Firstly, I'm fiercely outspoken, dry-humored and opinionated. But, I also have an open mind and I'm always willing and hungry to participate in discussion. I do not expect or want people to agree with everything I create, say or do. I don't like or agree with a lot of things, so why would I assume all of you have to agree with everything I agree with or like everything I like? If I rub you the wrong way or offend you by posting something that doesn't perfectly align with your thoughts/taste/opinions and you can't laugh at it/ignore it/accept that I'm not exactly like you, feel free to UN-FOLLOW me. But calling me a pig or telling me to go kill myself just makes me laugh and think that you're an idiot. So don't do that unless you're really that determined to embarrass yourself. -I AM A LIBERAL -I AM AN ATHEIST -I AM A WOMAN & A SEXUAL BEING -I AM NOT AFRAID OF BEING OR EXPRESSING ANY OF THESE THINGS (nor am I afraid of people who aren't exactly like me or people who don't think exactly like me. I welcome them.) But most importantly, I AM A MUSICIAN. I'm not trying to be an online celebrity and I honestly can't stand that participating in social media is practically a requirement in order to get/keep people interested in what I'm doing. It sucks that at this point, pictures of me get more attention (ie 'likes') than my actual music. BUT, it's the reality. Nobody buys enough music anymore for artists like me to make enough money to survive. People like to follow artists they like on FB or Instagram but most of these people don't fork over the $9.99 for the artists' records. I hope that this changes for me. One of the ways this will change for me is by growing my fan base, and the number one way to do that is to reach more people (which is why social media is so crucial whether I like it or not). But, I'm not going to only post cute pictures of me over and over again because I'm not looking for people to be fans of mine just because they think I'm cute. I want to reach people who GET MY ART. Who support me as a musician and who are actually going to BE ON MY TEAM. I wish I could put out records and music videos every week but all of that costs money and takes an incredible amount of work. Which means I need your help by supporting me when these videos and records do come out. If you can't do that, don't bother following me on FB just to insult me when I do something other than post a picture of myself looking the way you find appealing. I'm going to continue using social media as an outlet to express who I am as a person. I will continue to post things I think are funny, interesting, angering, beautiful, etc. I will continue posting rants and maybe some rude comments here and there. I have a potty mouth and I have big ideas and opinions. That's who I am. I love discussing these things and hearing your feedback because I want to know who you are too. I want to be able to respect the people who respect and support me. If you aren't someone who respects or supports me, get lost. I'm happy to 'lose' followers who aren't actually people who care about me or my art. If you are someone who follows me because you respect/like/get my music or what I'm about and wants to keep getting to know me and seeing what I'm about, great. THANK YOU. You are the people who have literally kept me alive at numerous points in my life and who have kept me motivated to keep making music without giving a f*ck about what other people think I should be doing. Every 'share', 'like', comment, discussion, donation, download, purchase, etc from you makes a difference. Thank you. Thank you. meow, Carre
