The only reason you ask if someone considers you a brother is that you hope they don't. The only reason you ask someone if they have 'the hots' for someone else is because you hope they don't.

I didn't see a grieving Daryl in this episode, I saw a conflicted Daryl. Remember the guy who lost his absolute shit when Carol got hit by a car and compare that to this Daryl who hasn't even shed a tear over the dead nun.

Those are my takeaways from 2.05

Dear fellow carylers, Melissa's return gave me relief, Tribeca made me happy and hopeful, but SDCC definitely closed the deal! I'm not only positive, I'm confident that caryl is endgame and canon is the only possible outcome.

Why? Because I never saw Melissa this happy and relaxed before. Ever. She's glowing and giggling! It's beautiful to witness and everything I ever wanted for her. Her happiness gives me confidence and I trust that she's getting what she (and all of us) want.

After so much disappointment, frustration and uncertainty, it feels really good to enjoy my love for caryl besides fanfiction. I'm happy to say I'm looking forward to TBOC and that I currently have very little reservations about it after all, AMC is AMC. September can't come fast enough.

Two old AUs that I can't forget:

Little 5 Points by viktories, which is adorable and a quirky kind of funny, and Five Veils by Argent Gale, which has lush undercurrent of sex and longing to connect.

Maybe I just like fics with the word, five, in the title, but both stories have a vastly different setting from the ZA. L5P is nerdy and 5V is all about socialite philanthropy, but both keep our heroes recognizably themselves.

Considering how long they've been abandoned, I don't see them ever getting finished, but I still revisit them every now and then.

I think this is the first time I've read nerdy caryl and I loved it! AUs really are especial, aren't they? Daryl & Carol feel so real on this story, even though they are younger and more fragile. Their relationship is completely believable, with the right amount of angst and fluffiness. It evolves quite adorably. Glenn really is the best of friends, in all universes, and I love how he's written on this story.

Summary: Carol Peletier is a very wealthy socialite, with money to burn, but sometimes finding somebody to burn that money with can be difficult. Daryl is a high-end escort.  He can make up to 10K a night sharing his company, and talents, with women who don’t have time to fuss with romantic entanglements.

Our author here made an incredible job on setting our beloveds on a vastly different AU and making it work flawlessly. Their inner voices are spot on, and they love each other on a way that just makes you root for their happy ending. And Merle Dixon just shines through the pages! If you're a Merle fan, dear fellow caryler, you'll love this fic. Again, great fics, anon! Thank you! If you read it, don't forget to leave a nice review to our authors, okay? AU Thursday - Caryl Fanfiction Rec

Nothing like AU Thrusday to distract us from AMC shenanigans and fandom despair, right? 😬 Take my hand, dear fellow caryler, let me guide you through yet another alternate universe where our beloveds Carol and Daryl find each other and fall in love like the soulmates they are. Keeping up with our 'old but gold' theme, today's fic is from 2014 and the very first caryl fic our author wrote. And Crimson Welled by strychnine is a beautiful and deeply moving Civil War AU + Cold Mountain crossover (with a different ending so, if you've watched the movie or read the novel, don't worry, everything turns out just fine). It's posted both on 9Lives and AO3.

This fic is so well written, so well and beautifully! It has little details that match our characters personalities and traits, making them feel real and on canon, even when they're doing or saying things we never saw on the show. It captures the Civil War era extremely well and with a refreshing take, which I believe is something quite difficult to do considering it's an historical event widely portrayed in media. It's beautiful, it's sad, it's introspective. It just captures what we love the most about TWD and caryl on a complete different setting. I hope you like this fic as much as I did, dear caryler! Also, our author is not active on the TWD/caryl fandom anymore, but they are writing fics for different fandoms and their AO3 dashboard is up to date. ZA AU Tuesday - Caryl Fanfiction Rec

Dear fellow caryler, I'm back with an old but gold caryl fic from 2013 hidden on the fanfiction.net vaults! Echoes by LouBlue is posted on FF.net and it's a poetic and magical Season 3 ZA AU that highlights the unconventionality of Daryl and Carol’s relationship, sewn between their silences, traumas and acts of service.

Summary: Pre first-half S3 finale. "Some people see scars, & it is wounding they remember. To me they are proof of the fact that there is healing." The lives they used to live were gone. But how much of who they used to be had been swept away too? A story of two damaged souls discovering going forwards means going back & facing the things that once held you.

One-Shot Monday - Caryl Fanfiction Rec

Today I'm taking you all on a memory lane. Did you know we've got caryl fics from over ten years ago still available for you to read? 😮 It always surprise me how old our fandom is how it survived so much BS and how it keeps growing. New people keep coming, sharing their talent and passion for caryl with fanfics, arts, videos, gif sets and metas! And they're all amazing! But we've got so many old stories that deserve to be read, written by amazing people that left their mark although they are no longer active! So week 6 of our little project will be dedicated to some of them, because we wouldn't be here without those first shippers and writers. Today's one-shot is titled Even Better and written by SepticLovebite. It was first published on October 16th, 2012 on FF.net, and archived on 9Lives on March 02nd, 2016.

Summary: He knew how to push her. When to stop. How to rile her up so that she worked faster, with more fury. Just like he knew when she had too much, he would push in front of her and take over. She loved him for it.

This little story (two longer drabbles smashed together) takes place between S2 and S3 and it's an adorable prequel to S3E1. I love how our author (so very insightful) wrote their early relationship: easy-going, comfortable and full of tease - characteristics that last throughout their entire relationship on the show. Two Caryl fics by Rambling Rose are so good. Broken Mirrors in au non za. It is very long and very good. A version of Sophia is in it. They meet through Sophia… All the King’s Horses is also a AU non za. Both Daryl and Carol meet as single parents. Both have been hurt and they meet. They are on Ninelives, AO3 and FanFiction, I think.

All the King's Horses is one of my favorite fics and I'm currently reading Broken Mirrors for the first time! 🥰 All the King's Horses is posted on it's entirety on 9Lives Caryl Archive, but also on Ao3 and FF.net. It's one of my favorite fics, with one of the most beautiful portrays of Daddy Daryl I ever read. His bond with Russ it's so endearing! The way caryl connect and form a big family together is very heart-warming.

Summary: All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put their hearts back together again...Caryl AU. He's a single father with just one concern and a past he'd rather leave behind him. She's a single mother just looking for a new start and an escape from her own past. Everyone knows life is not a fairy tale. For me, the greatest strength of this story is how they feel like real people, how their struggles and joys are tangible and concrete. I don't know how exactly I'll feel when I get to the finish line (I'm still on chapter 85) but I'm sure I'll miss them like real friends. Summary: AU Caryl fic. When broken people encounter each other, is it possible for them to glue the pieces back together? This is very AU. Carol, Daryl, and Sophia are all broken people who live in very different worlds, but when those worlds unexpectedly collide, can they find healing in themselves through healing each other?
