I was able to photograph this charming regional railroad for a couple of days back in March of 1978; the road ceased to exist in 1993. This particular image shows an eastbound train on the Ahnapee & Western portion of the line near Casco, Wisconsin.
The train is carrying plate steel from which 1000 foot long ships will be built, at Sturgeon Bay. The locomotive is an Alco RS-27.
