I have been in New York for the past couple days, and here are some of the things I’ve seen 😍
The list of books I want to buy vs the list of textbooks I have to buy 😒
That nerd moment when you go to the store and find school/office supplies on sale. 🤓 (March.25.2017)
Me: I wish I had friends to talk to. Me: Oh! Someone added me to a group chat! Me: Ah. I've just been added to another group chat. Me: [155 text notifications later] ........ What have I done ?
(March.01.17) The term ended yesterday, and the new one starts on Monday. What to do until then? Deep clean my house, then completely waste time playing video games and coloring while binging on Netflix.
Rambling....
(Feb.22.2017) I love/hate when I go to a bookstore and I run into an employee who was a former English/literature teacher.
I love it because they are so passionate about books. They give me recommendations, they’re extra helpful with any questions I may have, and I’ve even come across some who give me “study questions” I should think about before/during/after the book. I hate it because they are no longer sharing that passion with students who really need it. It completely broke my heart when I ran into a former teacher of mine at a bookstore recently. He was the one who initially taught me to love and appreciate books, as well as to delve deeper, read between the lines, and ask questions/start discussions. To not be ashamed to read any type of book and to love any topic that interests you, no matter if other people think it’s weird, silly, too boring, too sexy, too scary, etc. To be able to escape into another world when yours may be too difficult to deal with at that exact moment.
That feeling is made even worse when a customer comes up behind me huffing and puffing because they need to find something for their [insert gift recipient] and just want to get in and out of the store ASAP.
In the span of 24 hours, I have gotten a new car and a big pack of candy-scented gel pens. I think I'm handling this "adult" thing pretty well.
