With most everyone enjoying the more social activities set up for the week, Owen found it an opportune time to visit the hot springs. Which were all but abandoned when Owen walked in, a rare occurrence especially on beautiful nights like this. His eyes kept straying up to the clear night sky as he undressed. Fires on the beach didn’t take away from the stars glistening shine and away from all the others, he could enjoy it in peace. Stepping into the water slowly he waded out to his waist before dipping low to give on slow breast stroke. That let the hot water work over his chest and shoulders, particularly his right one that he rolled beneath the surface. Heat already doing small wonders on the aches and pains that’d been hanging there all day. He sighed loud and gratefully from it while standing up and making his way to an area he knew the heat pooled in at around the rocks. Steam veiling his sight along with water splashing around his hips didn’t let Owen realize someone else was here until he was right on top of them. Almost falling onto a woman that his arms flew out to catch himself on the rocks and brace above her to see a face that made his heart stop. Stumbling back in the water Owen tried to get his bearings and calm the shit out of his now racing heart as he choked out, “Cass?”

Nathan grabbed Cass to steady her from slipping, for they were about twenty feet in the air, and the only thing that kept them from the deck below was knots upon knots of rigging. Moving his arm around her so her back was to his front, he warned, “I know I’m nice to look at, but you’d do better to keep your eyes on where your foot land,” he advised, pressing a kiss to here shoulder, then closer to her neck, peppering warm lips up the curve until his lips were by her ear. “Someone could get hurt up here.”

Nathan doubled over, acting as if Cass’ punch wounded anything other than his pride, but it was all for show and the opportunity to tease the American. “It’s not my fault you’re terrible at shuffleboard, Cass,” he said through a round of laughter. “Maybe try a lighter touch.”

“There is one, actually, though I think it’s more genuine curiosity than the fact that I have eyeballs to see how fit she is,” Nathan admitted with a laugh. “And who would have thought? An American. Just goes to show you that you can’t judge a book by its cover.”

Meme Wednesday

It was late, way later than either of them should have had any business staying up. But after finally giving in and taking a break from drowning himself in his new duties as a First Mate and on top of that taking way more shifts in the infirmary than he should have been physically able to handle, his heavy bones weren’t too keen on cooperating.

Nor did he truly want to leave this moment. 

It was a cool night and a light mist danced over the still ocean waters. Cassandra’s voice carried with the current, near and distant at the same time. It didn’t sound like it belonged in this world. Maybe he feared that moving would break whatever spell that had been cast here, that the song was an elusive creature that would scurry into the night never to be seen again if she released her hold on it. 

His eyelids felt heavy, everything felt heavy, except her voice. Just a little while longer, he told himself, as he let the song carry him into distant worlds.

“You know, it’s kind of hard to trust someone when you don’t know who that someone really is.“

“You can always give someone the benefit of the doubt…” His lips pursed in thought. It was a hard thing to stand by considering the circumstances, being kept on this island by who he’s heard other royals call the enemy. Now he had begun to understand why. “Or trust your gut instead.” Intuition proved to be the better path for him in the past for the times he did follow it.

ℒ  Pulling them into a hall/alley to kiss them passionately.

Nathan spotted her coming from his back deck, and by the time she was passing in front of his house, he was waiting for her at the edge of his property. Because she wasn’t prepared, all he had to do was give a firm tug in the crook of her elbow, and before she could do anything more than see his face, his hand was covering her mouth. “Shh,” he warned, brows furrowing playfully. “The neighbors will hear.”

He lowered his hand to her chin, and as he held her face up towards his, he caught her bottom lip in his teeth. After a telling chuckle, his lips found hers, slanting greedily as he lifted her legs and used his weight to prop them against the side of the villa.
