I think of your cats looking out from their travel crates during the flight all befuddled lol do they link huge crates with bad news (long journeys) now? When you gotta use them for trips to the vet
Heh, I wish I could have seen how they behaved during the actual flight! I hope they weren’t panicking.
I’m not sure they could actually see that much. We were flying with Air Transat and they have only 5 animal slots available in the cargo section per flight, so 3 of those were already taken up by us (I say “only”, but I have no idea how many slots are common with other airlines). I doubt there were any other animals on board, cause when I booked the flight I checked for 3 different dates and none of them had an animal reservation at that time. Other than that, I believe they keep it dark in the cargo area. Maybe the crates were facing each other and they could have been like “wtf is going on guys???”.
Buuut, to answer your question: Nah, actually I think they still find the transport boxes kinda homey. I bought them about a month before our departure and we kept them in our apartment, just you know, being part of the general furniture, so they would get used to them. I put some of our towels inside to absorb more “home smell” and the cats would use them to chill in there. During the last week or so I also kept putting some treats inside, to add to the positive associations.
Once we arrived in our AirBnB in Vancouver, the crates would be still just standing around and believe it or not, all of the cats actually still used them to chill out in there. :)
(Btw, I used to do this with my old transport boxes as well, just keep them around. So trips to the vet were never a problem. Often enough they’d walk in by themselves and I just needed to close the door.)
