🌅 Chapter 8: Boys of Summer Episode 5: Trouble 🎧▶️📻 Previous (All shook up) - Next (Don't be cruel)
Jeb ran and ran - all the way to Imo Kim's House in his shorts, Ji Ho in his wake. Who helped Jeb getting dressed, moved their instruments aside (since they'd soon bring them over to their new rehearsal place at Noxee's Bar anyway) and started to rinse the salt off the cabbage leaves. Jeb noticed Ji Ho's guitar was back too. Was he a kind of wizard? Jeb: "By any chance, you can't also turn back time, can you?" But Ji Ho just silently continued his work. As always. Jeb looked at the box full of herbs from Hwanung's House, Noxee and Sai brought along to Cahaya, and slapped both palms on his thighs: "Well, I better get these herbs unpacked and brew some more glamour potions, since almost our whole Community gathered here now, huh."
Meanwhile at the Resort, Jack was shuffling through his work day. He can't remember he's ever been so tired and drained before - so low on energy. And there wasn't even a reason for it. Working at the resort was easier than any job he'd ever had, and they were even 'forced' to take long breaks. Jack looked at his poor human co-workers, who were lying and resting in the still powerful sun. Other than them, Jeb and him were supernaturals, used to work hard all day long - why did this job drain them so much? They have the hunch it had something to do with that device installed nearby, but they were still investigating what this thing was actually doing. The were no cables leading from it to anywhere, so they were still quite clueless about it.
On his way back to wash the staff 'uniforms', Jack came to overhear a snippet of a phonecall. He peeked through the slats, it was the Owner of the Resort, Mr Ishida. Mr Ishida: ". . . No, I don't want to meet you ever again. I'm going to end this call now . . . *Mr Ishida laughed* Don't be stupid, Doyun saw him alive and well - and when all this is over, I'll make him mine. Don't you dare touch him or you'll regret it. You might have succeeded getting him banned, but I've made powerful friends since you left. They'll crush you should you try any of your schemes again." Then he hung up, let out an infuriated 'HAH' - and Jack sneaked back quickly.
Was the person on the other end of the line talking about - Ji Ho? ö.Ö Doyun was the guy who found them on the Deserted Island. But Phil told Jeb, Ji Ho got banned for enticing the partner of the Owner. Why would the Owner want Ji Ho 'make him his' then? And - did the mysterious caller imply Ji Ho wasn't 'alive and well'? Did he know about the accident? Did he try to hurt Ji Ho?
Jack took another long break and ended his workday deep in thoughts. He couldn't wait to tell Jeb and the others about what he just heard. And what did the Owner mean with 'when this is all over'?
Before heading to the ferry to the Main Island, Jack stopped at the Temple and said hello to his friend Seymor, to give him some leftovers from the Resort. The dog was often found here next to the graveyard, as if he was waiting for someone who'd died.
And while Jack had a chat with Seymor, soft music was wafting over from the temple, the cleaners probably had their radio on. Jack looked up puzzled when he heard the familiar lines.
'Walk blindly to the light and reach out for his hand Don′t ask any questions and don't try to understand Open up your mind and then open up your heart And you will see that you and me aren′t very far apart'
He knew this song! It was playing in his dream and he never had been able to recall which song it was. So he went up to the Temple to ask - or use his fancy app near the speakers. Asking was faster: "Hello there, which song is this?" Cleaner: "It's 'I believe' from Blessid Union of Souls." Jack: "Thanks!"
Jack just wanted to turn around and leave - when the Cleaner turned around - it was the man of Jack's dreams nightmares! Jack: "You! How dare you! You stole my . . . " Cleaner: "Can you please stop shouting. This is a Temple here, you are disturbing the visitors." The visitors were staring at them already. Jack: "I will be back - and I will beat *Jack thought it was probably better not to threaten this guy with witnesses all around* . . . I won't hold back!"
Jack ran from the Temple, his heart beating like a drum. He couldn't think clear anymore. That was when his phone vibrated and Jeb asked when he'd be back for dinner. Jeb, his life saver - he would know what to do. Jack: "Jeb, come to the Temple - he's here! I need you - or else I'll . . . I'll. . . I don't know what to do, please help!" Jeb: "Gods Jack, sit down and wait for me. Go to Seymore and talk to him until I'm there, ok?" Jack sobbed a weak 'ok' in the wire and went over to Seymore again. His presence alone was soothing Jack and he was trying not to think about what just happened.
Jeb couldn't leave Ji Ho alone in the house and it wasn't a good idea either to take him to the Resort Island. Jeb wanted to spare Ji Ho from people being mean to him. So plan was to leave him with Saiwa and Noxee, no matter how humiliating it would be for Jeb to face Saiwa again. But Ji Ho didn't stop for a second and kept running to the pier.
After arriving at the Temple, Jeb and Ji Ho picked up Jack and they went back inside the areal to . . . Jeb had no idea what he was supposed to do. He couldn't really ask this guy to stop showing up in Jack's dreams - and keep him from kissing Jack. . . But when Jeb approached him, he recognized him as: "Kiyoshi? What are you doing here? Why didn't you reach out?" Kiyoshi: "Gods, Jeb! I've been sent here for reflecting but I'm not sure what I did wrong, I just wanted to wait quietly until the investigations are done. Francine is involved - I wasn't sure if it's ok to call you. . . How did you find me anyway?" Jeb: "Uhm, so my friend here. . ."
Kiyoshi looked over to Ji Ho: "Ji Ho? But . . . you're dead. I've sent you off myself . . . what. . ." Jeb: "Huh? We thought that has been the reason you've been 'transferred for disciplinary reasons'. The evidence we've found in your office, Ji Ho isn't dead, he's one of us, you are only allowed to send mortals off - dead mortals." Kiyoshi looked at Ji Ho: "He was mortal. And he was dead. I've just been a bit early that day, he was my first job and I didn't want to mess it up. There clearly was no mistake. The Officials sent the tickets - no way I would have been able to collect him if he were one of us - or alive. I was just the apprentice." Jeb: "Does this mean - he died in that park and he came back - as something else?" Kiyoshi: "Why not ask him? He can confirm, we've spent a few hours together before he left, right Ji Ho? I even left the Summer Solstice Party early to make it easier for him." Jeb: "He doesn't speak and lost big parts of his memories - which makes things a lot clearer now, if he really died and came back as someone else. Gods Ji Ho."
Jeb tried his best to keep things together: "Jack, this is Kiyoshi. He's my friend and you've met him on Summer Solstice. Maybe that's why you dreamt . . ." Jack was in no state to listen to some reasonable stuff, because nothing in his life was reasonable - or following any logic, so he just stomped off and addressed Kiyoshi with a gloomy voice: "I'm not done with you yet. Let's go home, Ji Ho."
'If you're looking for trouble, you came to the right place If you're looking for trouble, just look right in my face I was born standing up and talking back My daddy was a green-eyed mountain jack Because I'm evil, my middle name is misery Well I'm evil, so don't you mess around with me Ive never looked for trouble but I've never ran I dont take no orders from no kind of man I'm only made out of flesh, blood and bone But if you're gonna start a rumble don't you try it on alone' Trouble - Elvis Presley (I chose the live version from 1968 for the youtube playlist, because it's more powerful) (No live version on spotify -.-)

They also had a map where you could put a cat sticker on the place your from and of course there was no stickers anywhere near where I’m from
